Hi Everyone. I’ve been on this forum for a while, and have been gathering notes, info, design, and inspiration. Today I finally got up the gumption to start my build.
I figured the Cyclotron was a good place to start designing
I plan on vacuum forming with styrene, so don’t jump on me for using metal
I don’t know if you’re going for an accurate pack or not, you seem to be since you have a good cake pan and you’ve measured everyhting out… But the washers aren’t layered like that on the real packs. There’s only one washer at each location. And they’re washers will different outer diameters, the bottom ones being slightly smaller.
Just an FYI. If you’re not trying to make a screen accurate pack then no worries.
Ya, I realized that. I wanted to make it 100% screen accurate, but I live in a small town and our local True Value only had:
1 1/4 inch inner diameter, with the wrong outer diameter(too small). Then they had washers with 2 7/16 washer with a huge inner diameter. If I would have went with the bigger washer it would look very awkward. The lights would have been huge and ridiculous looking. So I decided to stack them. I think it looks cool. Hope I’m not the only one
I figured, this is my pack and I will make little changes so I can tell its mine. But don’t worry, it’ll look 99.2% like the original.
Accuracy doesn’t matter to me.. so long as it’s close, and looks good, that’s all that matters.. plus so long as you have that GB attitude, you’ll be fine!
If you look at Planet Hollywood NY image #35, it looks like there could be a notch there. The box that the gun hangs from does overlap that corner a bit, and to do that you’d either have to notch that, or notch the box. Personally, I’d notch the box, at the end, if you need to, because then you don’t need to worry about how high on the pack the box has to sit to line up with the other boxes later… it won’t make a gap there, or require the hole to be widened.
Actually, now that I look at it again, I do have notches on our packs… the notch is where the corner of the gun mount is.
I’d leave it un notched during base fitting, and then see how your gunmount is looking, and notch it for it’s placement.
Something we found, is that the gunmount height, and it’s distance from the mb as well are very important when you want to reach back and grab the gun handle. Our gunmounts were too deep to actually mount the gun hanger in thier ends, so we had to move ours closer to the MB so we could reach our throwers.
