Im a noob at this and also english isnt my first language,so sorry for occuring errors
I am a fan of the movies and epecially the cartoon series since i can remember and i am watching this site for quite awile now, fascinated about whats going on here and after my last project, a model train convertion was completed, i played with the thougt of constructing a proton pack. It should be based of the real ghostbusters version with the realistic look of the movie version, and the lower part schould be based of the very simple depiction of the cern loop in miniature. after its now 80 percent complete, i wondered if sombody would recocnize it as a proton pack or even like it.
Are those sound effects from the game? They kind of scared the crap out of me when I was watching the video, lol.
Also, all I can think about is that this is like one of those chinese knockoffs of a proton pack. Like when you see one in the souvenir store with a funny name, but blatantly ripping off something.
It looks really well made though, nice work on coming up with something different looking.
I normally don’t like packs that deviate from the norm, but i was thinking about one of Dan’s comments about GB3 and the ‘new equipment’ they’re developing.
I keep forgetting that the proton pack is 30 years old, and as much as i hate to think about it i suppose it is out of date in this day and age…
I’m kind of excited to see what they do for a new pack (that’s hoping that GB3 is still a go long enough). Although if i don’t like it i’ll still be back to supporting the ‘proper’ proton pack!

I meant to say that I really like what you’ve done with this. It’s original, but you can see where it’s influenced by the standard packs.
Like Hoot said you’ve put some nice features on this, and I like that you’ve even put a new spin on the sound effects, which actually work really well!! I especially like that static crackle kind of sound. Makes it more realistic, like you would be genuinely terrified while you we’re wearing it (unlike the movie packs which seem less dangerous next to this!).
I only hope for the movie they dont make it too over the top, like theyre doing it now with robocop and dont stuff everything in to the standard pack like in the video game
Yeah, i know what you mean. The only comment i saw was from one of Dan’s recent (ish) interviews about the film, where he said something like “…blah blah blah, we’ve got all new equipment, blah blah…”.
Not much to go on, but it sounds like they’ve got the equipment sorted. Hopefully they’ve got the ideas down, but they can still go back and change things if they want. I don’t want to think that they’ve spent 5 minutes thinking about it and then just moved onto the script.
I know the props are only a small section of a movie, but this is the PROTON PACK! They need to make the proper leap from 80’s pack to 2013 pack without upsetting the fans.
And hopefully he (and Harold Ramis) listen to the fans and take in what they’re saying, not just about the packs but the movie in general. Although i’m fairly confident they’ll make the right choices. I mean look at the game - it featured all new equipment and technology that hadn’t been seen before, and i actually think it makes a natural progression from the movies. It’s not like all this new unfamiliar stuff that fans can’t relate to, i know it is meant to be canon from GB1 and GB2 but it actually felt like it, too.
I feel confident about the movie. To me the game felt like a third movie - it was the same cast, the same writers and the same humour. It had the …spirit (pun slightly intended)… GB2 should have had. The same team’s there again, and if they give it the same treatment as the game i think it’ll be as amazing as we all hope it’ll be.
That is very cool and a very believable hybrid concept. I am an imaging assistant in CT at the hospital here in Palm Springs and that totally sounds like the Philips CT scanner we have. Good job!

Also I just imagined the elevator scene with the pack making those sounds and can totally see Peter and Egon pushing Ray out of the elevator and closing the door behind him
so here we go again. i updated the electronics a bit, so there is a litte more flow in the movements of the led. i added a rumble feature and i am on a gb tvg like slime blower addon.. i used legris crystal green tubing 8mm (1025u08r12), legris fittings (31010860) and high power green 5mm led for the slime hose effect. i currently working on a smaller scale slime blower spray. i also upped the tube for the neutrona wand to a more makeshift particle accelerator syle one wich im planning to install in the near furture. http://www.gbfans.com/fans/props/proton-packs/6536/22/
