My Proton Pack Build ( Work in Progress ) updated 7/22/2009

Well after a few months of searching and most importantly .. waiting.. I finally got around to starting my pack after purchasing one of Slimer’s wooden wonders. I should be getting a ton of parts from MMM within a week or two which is going to blast this project foward %500..

Just a couple of pics of what I have done and not done yet lol. The wood is so amazing its such a shame I have to paint it black.. I would rather stain it and put some nice finish on it and buff it up like a coffee table

did a lot of work on this today..

heh, I bought one of his packs too. I’m putting in a ginormous order to Irri next week for probably the same stuff you did… and if ANY of it is out of stock when I order, I’m blaming you personally. lol

did your order look something like this?

blame away lol… im a verbal punching bag at work all day.. might as well be one here once in a while..

???

I don’t even want to tally how much money I’ve dropped on my proton pack, I don’t even have all of the parts yet. I’m still waiting on a shell from ebay, gun and pack kits from Exoray, a gun hook from Momeraths, my flight suit, boots, belt, custom name tag, packs hoses and gloves from AJ. I have already received my parts from MMM, I spent well over $400 alone on those bad boys.

So as you can see, I don’t even want to tally the rest of it up. Fear of sticker shock!

With any luck most of this stuff should arrive next week so I can start my pack build thread.

Sorry, didn’t mean to hijack your thread… You can have it back now :wrongforum:

that pack looks great! can tell already it will look killer when finished.

just one small nitpick. the PPD discs look a little off to me. can they be removed and replaced or are they stuck down for good? the right hand one seems to need to be moved to the right a little.

yeah nick, they are on there for good.. i knew i was going to have small mistakes with my pack but thats fine .. thats why its mine i guess.. i tried to get as close as possible with everything that wasent provided to me..

and no sooner where the post out of my keyboard then the postal service came with my package from MMM so here I go… one last picture before i go nutz and start working on everything at once

all that and more, my friend

I’ll be buying all the hoses, resistors, banjos, and other little details from him. so, just in case, I’ve been cleaning off my killing gloves and polishing my body hiding shovel

what brand paint are u useing?

LOL…

well just to make your mouth water heres some stuff before I got crazy and attach it all …here goes…

hmmm… just realized my hoses are not the correct color.. they are supposed to be green and blue. but not

transparent.. minor setback..

Waiting so long it actually feels good to look at something that acutally resembles a proton pack.. i think the stickers really help a lot with selling the overall look.. the stickers make it seem and look like an offical peice of equipment..

I wonder what equipment the stickers originally came from before they used them on Proton Packs? I see stickers on the Subway here that say to “Stop power before repair or adjustement” and that stuff always reminds me of GB material

I cant believe how quickly this project sucked me in … totally…

One day im sitting at work in the Grand Hyatt Hotel inside Grand Central Station…

Im delevering a fax to the front desk for some VIP guest and all of a sudden a Ghostbuster is being escorted outside of the hotel by security.. My mouth was hanging open all the way because I was struck with awe at hot good his costume looked.. then quickly remembered hes probably on the way to the Javits center for Comicon. In my head I figured I could probably find out online how he built that thing, or where he bought it… and boom.. here I am..

phew…

::back to work:: :cool:

Gonna be a great pack.

adding the labels is my fave part of building a pack and i have often wondered myself where they came from. can anyone shed anylight in the subject?

sorry for the mini-hijack, your packs looking great!! that wood looks so smooth!

im using rustoleum (sp?) paints… i was coating primer.. then metallic silver then flat black enamel… but i got lazy and just did the primer and black… im going to add weathering effects myself later on when its all done..

oh and zeta otaku …

I just realized you live in NJ… and are totally unemployed… so you actually DO have the time to come and kill me… and you live close to me also which presents a certain risk…if you come attack me im going to fire resin casted legris straight fittings at you until you go back to NJ!

haha jk

hmmmMmMmMmmm

just ordered my Splitless Loom from GBfans… and most important .. i became a supporting member..

mmmm..like Christmas. It’s so nice getting stuff in the mail. So, you painted it? I was going to say that would be the way to go since if you stained the wood the other resin/PVC parts wouldn’t look right. Paint is like MAGIC : )

-laughs evilly-

yeah i wasent really going to stain it and paint it like a coffee table unless the wood was some fine mahgonay wood or something … haha but its still sad that i had to cover the wood in black paint..

still short a few things…

MMM goodness

Looking good!
