My Proton Pack Build

Hey all,

So, here’s my on going Proton Pack Build, thought it was time to share my progress.

I got a great shell from Lawrence (Lawrence252 - Loly2kn2) last year, did a bit of work and then downed tools. Just recently started getting back in to it now that my funds are a bit better!

Anyway, here are some pictures of how i’m getting on.

First thing I did was get my shell sanded etc. (Didn’t really need much, but i’m a perfectionist)

Started filling a couple of areas on the top that weren’t 100% straight,

Decided to sand down the ‘■■■■■■■’ on the EDA discs just a little.

Next up, I re-enforced the walls around the top of the shell. I’m pretty sure it would have been fine but I just wanted some extra strength. Got some fibreglass/resin etc. and stuck it on. Not the greatest application but it’ll do…there’s a few air bubbles! MESSY STUFF!!!

Fuller view here…

Next I added a bit of filler in the gaps around the edge where the fibreglass had bubbles.

Drilled the holes in my N-Filter and sanded the hole for it to fit on to the Pack.

Had a couple of stresses about what to do about the Injector Tubes and the PPD. As you can see from the picture, the Injector tubes come over the lip on the Power Cell. I plan to Dremel a little bit off the lip (on the left, half way down) to make it fit…probably doesn’t make sense reading that, but the plan works in my head!!

Here’s my PPD. It’s squared off on the Pack so I plan to use Milliput to fill behind it and cover any gaps.

Have recently got a few pieces from Nick-a-Tron and have been working on those. Here’s the HGA with screws and a JoeLuna metal/aluminium label (not stuck on!!!). Already looks nice and it’s not been painted yet!

I also have a TC v3.0 gun Kit which i’m currently working on, haven’t really got any pictures of that yet but will add some soon. I have other parts coming this week so will have something to keep me busy!!

One thing about my TC Gun Kit, I’m rubbish at drilling holes!!! Whilst it doesn’t take a genius to do, I some how mange to mess it up…have a look below!

Need to be more careful drilling holes…I’m a silly messy boy!!!

MORE TO COME & THANKS FOR LOOKING

Looks like you’re off to a good start, I’m looking forward to seeing how one of Lawrence’s shells turns out once finished up.

It’s a safe bet you’ll be lighting it, will you also be going for sound?

Is it going to be a Ghostbusters or Ghostbusters II Pack?

Cheers mate!!!

I’ll eventually be lighting it, holding out for R2Devo to come back

I already have a GBFans sound board so looking forward to booking that up!!

I’m going for a GB1 pack, not an specific one…just your generic style!!!

Looking good mate! glad to see the same shell as mine on here!

Thanks  I’m finding out that a lot more people have Lawrence’s shell than I thought!!

Yeah defo. I’m going for a GB1 build too, what are you planning to do about the ribbon cable?

If you mean what am I going to be using, I was lucky enough to snag one of the GB1 cables AJ was selling here. Only took it out the box a couple of times as I’m not ready to put it on yet. Looks awesome though!!!

Good result! I’m gonna take the plunge and build my own, I’ve had a look at the tutorials on the index section thread and I’ll be ordering the cables at some point

Yeah give it a go, I bet it’ll look awesome when you’re done!!

Today I received a couple of things through the post!

First up is my fancy Nick a Tron Ion Arm! Can’t wait to clean this up and get everything drilled and screwed on.

The other thing I got through the post was a pipe cutter, works a treat and cuts damn straight!! I could have used a hacksaw but had a disaster previously and didn’t want to waste any more pipe!

So, pipes cut…here’s how the gun looks so far (not bolted together just yet).

And lastly, here’s the pack with my the parts rested on top! Looking forward to bolting it all down. Hopefully get my Booster Tube cut over the next week. Need to sort the angle out first.

MORE TO FOLLOW

Oh I just realised I had put the Ion Arm the wrong way round in that picture

Looking really good! Pipe cutter is a great idea, I shall add to my list lol

Looks great! Excited to see a pack out of one of Lawrence’s shells. I have his cyclotron on my pack and a pair of his goggles. Both are top notch!

The pipe cutter was a god send  Quick and cheaper than buying a jigsaw!!

Thanks Alan, Lawrence’s stuff is great!!! Surprised not to see more of it out there.

Have done a little bit more over the past couple of days. Mainly drilling holes and fitting stuff to the shell.

Before all that, I had the issue with the Injectors fitting under the Power Cell. As you can see below, I’ve Dremelled away the bottom fin so that I can fit it central. Actually looks ok, what do you think?

Another couple of shots with the Injectors fitted.

So on to the screwing! Haha  The main things were getting the Beam Line and Filler Plug screwed on…

I then tackled the squared off PPD area of my shell. I decided to use Milliput as recommended by Nick a Tron a while back to fill the gap and make it a more curved area.

I prepped the area by drilling a couple of holes first. I figured that the Milliput would have a better chance of sticking to the shell that way.

Next I applied the Milliput…

And here’s the Milliput coming through the holes from the inside. Doesn’t look majorly clear.

Once it’s set, I’ll sand it down so it does’t look as rough!!

I’ve also started drilling and sorting my Ion Arm but not taken pictures of it yet with it not being finished.

MORE TO COME…THAKS FOR LOOKING

Great stuff your pack and gun are looking great.

Thanks mate  Slowly getting there!!!

Looking great, its coming together really well!

Thanks chum.

I WANT IT FINISHED NOW!!!

Looking mighty fine!
