I know it’s a bit of an “older” figure. But with sale for them being up, i thought i’d be nice to see the figure if people were on the fence about getting him.
Good review. And after the firesales over the Mattyc. I really do wonder why I did buy this one… Well, the reason WAS the PKE meters, and the ghost.. Egon, sad…
I agree more with the PKE rather than stethescope part more than anything. I wouldn’t expect him to be much different than Ray, like the jumpsuited guys are all the “same”. It is a lackluster figure for $20 but I do think it’s worth it for people that want all 3 RTBY guys, I didn’t think of Egon as just a throwaway to have with the library ghost being the main attraction, it is a sweet visually appealing ghost but Egon is what he is. Egon in a labcoat. A good chunk of the accessories/ghosts haven’t made that much sense thus far with who came with what…
I think it was kinda dumb they changed it to “RTBY” Egon after Ray had already come out labeled as just Ray Stantz, like they just make it up as they go along! Very informative review though!
it’s not a terrible figure, new ghost sculpt, 3 extra pke meters, and alot of people want to complete the “ready to believe you” set. its an honest review though, well done.
the only reason they put the ghost in there is because mattel knows we will buy the ghost and take the figure as an add in
if they know a figure will not do to well on its own they find something thst will push people into buying them
This has been their method so far as we saw with Slime blower Winston. He was new and cool so they just dropped in a throw away accessory. But with the Ray version they knew we wouldn’t be impressed by just a re-mold so they added a new ghost. And in all honesty it’s a good strategy, if you’re going to reuse old molds at least throw in a cool pack in.
What I’d love to see is a pack of just accessories like four proton streams, or a box of Ghostbuster logo stands. I wouldn’t mind seeing a boxed set of just all the ghosts either. Perhaps it’s something they’ll consider before killing the line off for good (assuming that’s where thy’re headed anyways).
Good job on the review.
I must say that warts and all the RTBY action figures have turned out better than the Minimate four pack of Dana and the guys from the commerical. I remember during the summer of 2010 being all excited with the pictures of the Minimates having all of the gear from the commerical and then Diamond Select droped the ball and only gave them a PKE meter instead.
