neutrona wand help

hey all, i tried searching the forum and couldnt find what i am looking for. I am looking to see if anyone attached the wand grips ears and such with headless screws? If anyone did what size/type did you use and where did you get them? also how did you do it ? If not what methods did you guys use to secure these pieces any help would be awesome thanks

I’m guessing you could use them on the grips but the gun ears are on the clear tube right? ( If i don’t have my parts confused) I would epoxy the gun ears to the tube so you don’t risk cracking the clear tube when drilling or screwing the screw in. Are headless screws more expensive? If so you can always counter sink a normal screw.

Don’t know if I’ve ever seen headless screws used before, but the ears are actually mounted on the front handle at the end just past the front grip. I believe the “ear” alkaline is referring to is actually the trigger tip assembly with the ring that’s merely epoxied onto the clear barrel tube.

They are actually called ‘set screws’; I just discovered these wonderful screws myself thanks to Colin and his trap kit.

I say it is completely do-able. You would need a smaller size with some length to it and an Allen wrench/hex key with some length to it too.

After you decide on the screw size, super glue the pieces in place (this will keep the pieces from shifting on you); without putting the clear tube in place, drill your hole through the ear piece into the barrel, if you come through the barrel it’s not a big deal; start screwing in your set screws. After it’s all painted and stuff, you could give each set screw one more turn to help hold the clear barrel in place

thanks alot for the help the reason i ask about this method is i noticed it in seans plans and logistically it makes sense to me since those are parts that your constantly using or grabing just to make it more secure

I was going to use set screws on my trap in the same way, but the hardware stores around here are lame and have a very limited selection of size/length, so I used tension pins instead.

yeah I hope i can find them id like to try it out

If you have trouble finding any hardware in your area try www.mcmastercarr.com . This site is amazing and most stuff is dirt cheap for a huge quantity. Be careful what you order though cause they don’t tell you shipping. Your best bet is to use the site to locate your parts then call the order in. The operator can then tell you what shipping will be.

Hi There,

I’m new to the building process and am currently assembling a thrower myself. For attaching the grips, I used liquid nails and then filled in the small gaps between the PVC and grip with Magic Sculp (which is great to use all around by the way) and I don’t think they will be going anywhere soon. Something to consider if you want to avoid screwing into the grips and then having to patch, etc.

Take care.

to be honest I think the actual prop handles were screwed to the barrel through the bottom where your hand would rest. I swear I saw a picture somewhere of it.

alkaline from my research that what it seems as well

You can see how the rear handle was held on by screws through grip in this picture:

I have never seen any pictures showing something similar on the front grip.

AH ! yes that’s the picture. When thinking about building a pack I always try to keep in mind that its basically a guy ( Egon) building these in his basement. So he’s not gonna be too concerned with minor cosmetic details.
