good read. maybe a game with the cartoon version of the GB franchise could be in the works, or near future works. wouldn’t mind seeing that since TRGB was on my top 10 lists of fav. cartoons growing up.
Boy they’ve been really conscientious with the blogging; I mean the last entry was what a week and a half ago? The “Proton” “Prototype” story was amusing.
I’m sure almost all know this already but the Containment Unit has been moved down to the basement and is a little larger kind of like the one in RGB. I really don’t think they need to make an RGB game. I think this game coming out will be all the ghostbusting that you would want to do. I just think another game might be kind of redundant. The special equipment in this game takes things to a kind of RGB state anyway. I love the RGB’s but they don’t need a game. besides who would do the voices?
How busy could the RGB voice actors be (excluding Lorenzo obviously), well, beyond the fact that Maurice LaMarche and Frank Welker have more than steady work. I think the bigger thing would be, if they created a rookie so they wouldn’t mess with the timing in this game, what would they do in a RGB game.
It would be far easier to get the RGB voice actors.
As far as what the game would be like, well they could do all sorts of stuff with it. I doubt it would be as big a production as the movie game though. With an RGB game perhaps you could play as Slimer in some levels, acting as a spy or traveling through the containment unit as he did a few times in the show. You could include various plots from the show as well. Plus there are tons of new equipment possibilities still.
You may think catching ghosts gets repetitive, but really isn’t every other FPS the same basic game? It’s what you do with the story and levels that makes the game worth playing.
It already was in the Basement to begin with. Where you getting your intel that it’s larger?
I’m pretty sure the idea that the containment unit’s design in the game being akin to the RGB unit is a complete invention of these message boards. It’s possible that the unit will be different to the one in the film simply because the old one exploded but I highly doubt it will be anywhere near the massive behemoth that the RGB one was.
The closest we’ve come to seeing it so far is that Wii screenshot with the gang and Selwyn hanging out in the fire house and you can just make out the containment unit on a security screen behind Venkman. It looks very much like the design from the film, but like I said it’s hard to see it clearly.
And what about the mini game on the GB:TVG website…?
*Here’s what Greg Miller’s [IGN Correspondent, and all-around Ghosthead] most recent XBOX 360 Demo review said :

*Cheers.
Missed that quote, sort of skimmed Millers last article because he was getting too carried away with discussing the story and was afraid to read something I didn’t want to know. Here’s the image I mentioned above
i don’t know unless that’s not the containment unit and just a red transformer/fuse box it looks pretty darn close to the movie grid.
*i remember that pic vividly, and it does favor the GB1 style Containment Unit, however keep in mind that that’s the Wii/PS2 build were looking at there…
*While the two versions share story points, voice work and the like, they are two very different animals graphically, and style wise…Not that that hasn’t been known since day 1, but just because it looks one way in one version doesn’t mean that it’ll be the same in the other…
*Though having said that - It would make more sense for an “RGB-Styled” Unit to be in the stylized Wii/PS2/DS versions of the game as opposed to the photo-realistic PS3/XBOX 360/PC versions now wouldn’t it ;-)…
*Cheers.
EXACTLY! If any game was going to have an RGB influenced containment unit it would be the Redfly version, so if they went for the movie one (which shouldn’t be a shock cause the devs have said many times that RGB isn’t being drawn from conceptually for this game) then naturally we should assume the TR version has a movie style one as well, just a little different looking.
What’s strange about that quote from the IGN article is that it says the unit looks a bit more influenced by the RGB version, but it’s still a wall unit. How could it possibly look anything like the RGB grid if it’s still a wall unit?
Guess we will have to wait and see…
maybe it’s a really big wall…
It probably just has some little curves to it instead of being just a big box.
