Hey everyone. My name is Frank. I’m a 32 year old father of 6 little boys, ages 7, 7, 5, 3, 4, 9mos.
I’ve loved ghostbusters since it came out, saw it in the drive-in when I was a kid. I recall playing the role for hours on end. The movie was on TV a couple weeks ago and my kids have been watching it daily ever-since and are now doing exactly what I used to do. Whats even better is they want to be Ghostbusters for halloween! Which has me stoked. And since me and my wife just LOVE making home-made costumes we were on-board right away. Ever-since I’ve been looking for reference material to start prop-production on 4 pint-sized proton packs…and yes, one for me! HAHA!! In anycase, it was this research that led me here. I’ve been creeping around the site for a few days now and decided to join today to start becoming more involved.
I will also be tracking my progress on the pint-sized packs on my new blog as well http://www.grimeygames.com/blog which is pretty much dedicated to all of my hobby endeavors. I suppose I will be making another post in the proton pack area as well about my plans, and be sure I will be asking LOTS of questions about building the props. And trying to get ideas on best practices.

I’m from a little place called Waterville. Its just south of Utica in Central New York, which is just east of Syracuse.
As for the little ones its awesome to get them into it. I love sharing things like this with them. Some good memories are going to be built this summer. And I can’t wait to see them when I strap those packs on them the first time.
welcome aboard! I made a custom green pack for my son (he’s 7), a slimeblower, and now he wants a “Burgh Pack” one of my custom designs. I’m making him a Wall-e costume for this Halloween.
Thats awesome brad! My kids love wall-e as well. I would image thats going to be a larger task than a pack through.
I’m thinking about my my kids packs primarily out of insulation foam, and then coating them with an expanding Urethane plastic brushon coating to make them sturdier and less likely to break. Although right now I’m not sure how much this idea will cost me. So First I have to build a pack and then try and figure out how much of this brushon stuff I will need to buy.
If its not overly expensive (which it might be) I will brush on the shell coating, and then sand it smooth and paint. The stuff is supposed to be impact resistant and shatter proof when applied in a 3/8" thickness. Sounds pretty neat. can’t wait to try it. But like I said, first things first. I gotta start building these packs.
