New Member from UK

Hello Everybody,

I’m a new member, based in Wales in the UK.

I’m here primarily to research building a GB1 proton pack for my step-daughter who is a huge GB fan, and a devoted cosplayer and attender of conventions. She has a uniform , but no pack or thrower.

So at the moment I am mainly reading loads of building threads, and learning as much as I can.

There is a large amount of information in this forum , which is great. Thank you.

Regards

Joe

hey there

welcome from another UK 'Buster

if you’re looking for childrens sized packs in the UK, i highly recommend speaking to BenOfKent props… he does some absolutely stunning packs at 60% size of originals, perfect for kiddies, and they look spot on.

you can also find his pack kits on ebay regularly

enjoy your time here

Wow, thanks, those are very cool.

My step-daughter is 21, however, and quite tall, so it is going to be a full size GB1 pack build.

She is just not a “builder” but knows that I will get my teeth into something like this and hopefully put it all together.

Mainly because it’s a challenge

I do think these proton pack builds, that people here are doing, look absolutely fantastic.

I hope I can measure up.

Cheers

Joe

Hey Joe another guy from the UK too, good luck on the pack build I am tackling that in a few months, right now about to put together a Trap and finishing off a suit.

Have you made an decisions on how you are putting the pack together and who you are going to for parts?

Welcome from a UK member. Good luck with your build. If you haven’t already then pop over to http://www.theukghostbusters.co.uk

ahh gotcha…

depending on size it might still be worth messaging Ben as he’s got some 80% size pack pieces in the works… especially designed for our smaller female members

waiting on one myself for my missus, at 5ft 2, a full pack dwarfs her sadly… so we’re going for the 80% pack size and build it up ourselves

Hi Starburst.

I haven’t really decided yet, but from what I’ve seen on here so far , a Nick-A-Tron hero shell looks like a good option with the advantage of also being in the UK.

Then I’d like to get as many metal parts as I can - I foresee this pack having a few knocks, and I’d like to make it strong.

Ideally I’ll be going for the original GB1 look as far as possible. I’m already learning that this is not necessarily the easiest option, especially with some of the rarer items like the ribbon cable

On a positive note, though, it does seem that this community has a large number of part makers and suppliers to call on.

So I will be most likely assembling from parts, rather than doing any scratch building.

Joe

Thanks methos2523. I’ll mention it and see what she says. Thanks for the advice.

Joe

anytime… as i said, it depends on the size of the person needing the pack… as you can see, a full size pack would literally dwarf my missus’, so we need to wait for the 80% size kits

Nick-A-Tron is who I am planning on getting mine from (he is who I got the Trap off as well as some other costume parts), I am going to be going for a GB1 styled pack too, I am leaning towards getting his semi-hero shell along with all the other parts from his hero kit for ease of my first build and save weight over adding metal parts (this may change though and this may not be the only Pack I build).

Getting as many parts from the one UK source as possible is also a big plus before looking for the harder to find items.

Welcome aboard, fellow Brit!

Welcome from another UK member Joe. I have one of Nick’s hero shells, which are amazing and am in the process of finishing my GB1 hero build myself. Best of luck with the build

Hello Joe, from another new UK newbie as well. I am currently working on my GB1 uniform. Craig

Thanks for the welcome everybody.

I’ve ordered a hero shell and some other parts from Nickatron.

Meanwhile I’m still reading all the information and build threads etc…

Joe

You won’t be disappointed Joe

I’m doing the same, although at this point I am leaning towards a semi hero shell to make the build process a little simpler. The parts I have from him so far are great!
