Hello guys, I am an old fan of the franchise and I have been cosplaying in the Anime community since 2006. I function on reference images and wanted to ask if there were good links to obtain reference images to the jumpsuit as well as patch location and hose connector. I am interested in seeing all dimensions of the suit, including all pockets and zippers.

Second we do not like to use that term, ‘Cosplay’. Thirdly, again all information can be found on this forum, using this - Search results for '' - GBFans.com. Forth, you don’t need measurements of the flight suit in order to make it. Essentially, there are three brands of flight suit Rothco, Tru-Spec, and Nomex. If you have deep pockets Nomex is the way to go, if you’re broke - Rothco. The most used is Tru-spec, the happy medium of the flight suits. And fifth, your also gonna need a pistol belt, elbow pads, belt gizmo, hose and connecter (depending on what type of uniform you chose), and key fobs (basically leather key chain things). welcome to GBFans taichi_yagami. the search function is your best friend, this site is goldmine of info and all you have to do is use the search tool and browse the forums to look for it. As for getting your first uniform together and getting it as accurate as you can, i’ll be happy to help.

Just ignore any negative comments regarding cosplay on this site. After all, the word cosplay is just a portmanteau of “costume” and “play”. For example:
Costume = Flight Suit & Proton Pack
Play = Pretending to be a Ghostbuster
= COSPLAY

Your definition of Cosplay is correct but not everyone here that dresses up as a Ghostbuster is pretending to be a ghostbuster. Some of us act like normal people in a costume. People ask me “are you a ghostbuster” and I reply “no, just dressed as one”.
That’s the only reason some people take offense to the “cosplay” title.
But anyway, welcome to our site, taichi_yagami. Like several others have stated, there is alot of info on here, you just have to look for it. Glad to see another khaki sheep!
To each his own; I have no qualms about people not cosplaying, but where’s the fun in being just “some guy wearing a Ghostbuster costume”? Not that any of us truly believe that we’re really Ghostbusters, but things like explaining how the equipment works, handing out business cards, and little role-playing makes the experience so much more worthwhile.
If you were with a group of Ghostbusters at a con, and someone in an excellent Stay-Puft costume showed up, don’t say you wouldn’t “pretend” to blast him. :walterpeck:
As for the little kids that you meet (who think Ghostbusters are simply awesome), are you really going to crush their spirits and imagination by saying, “Oh, we’re not Ghostbusters, just people wearing costumes.”
Matt would probably crush the children directly, never mind their spirits. 
I think the problem a lot of people have with the term cosplay is that the majority of people who define themselves as cosplayers are annoying teen/tween-agers who act like idiots and are more about the character copying than the actual costuming. The majority of people here are costumers and/or prop builders who occasionally act in character.
Sometimes I’ll get in-character when dressed in my gear, but I still don’t consider it “cosplay”. Cosplay is a japanese term based on anime and japanese video-game characters. I don’t think it should encompass all character costumes. It’d be like calling all cartoons “anime”. But all that being said, I have no ill-will towards cosplay in general. In fact…

While it’s true that there are a lot of teenagers who can be annoying when cosplaying, they shouldn’t be treated as second-class citizens in the fandom community. There are just as many “older” costumers/prop-builders that are just as annoying and take themselves way too seriously (you don’t have to look too far for them around here).
Cosplay isn’t just used for anime/video games in Japan. It is common for Japanese people to use the term “cosplay” when doing costumes of things like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, western cartoons/movies, comic books, or even generic costumes like angels, wizards, or warriors.
In the end, cosplay is just a word that is open to interpretation.
Many people forget, but those “annoying kids” are the future of the fandom community. Can’t we all just get along and learn to bridge the generational gap? :sigh:
By the way, Raggletag, very nice pic. I’m a huge Mario fan! I’ve considered the idea of doing a Ghostbuster Luigi with Poltergust 3000-styled proton pack, Gameboy Horror Belt Gizmo, and a green flight suit with a custom “no-Boos patch”.
It’s cosplay.
You can dress it up (hurf durf) any way you like, but it’s still cosplay.
What we do is a form of cosplay.
Anything beyond that is an argument on semantics.
I may be one of these here overly-educated people and what not, but By God, if you look at the construction of the word cosplay you could make it include anything from acting in character to wearing a uniform for a leisure activity. I say, I say that sounds like all of us fit in one way and few of us fit in the other way.

If you want to see the most awfully ridiculous nit-picky arguments over the definitions of the two words (which I believe are both open to interpretation), join the International Costumers Guild or cosplay.com. Anime fans can’t even agree what the heck cosplay is, so don’t expect people who don’t consider themselves cosplayers to be any different.
Welcome to the site. I’m new too and also a cosplayer/anime fan. My husband is Demon Vice Commander, and we run Kawa Kon together.
I started in fandom as a fan of hard science fiction lit (lit fans consider themselves the “elite” of fandom for goodness knows what reason) and ended up running an anime convention. Because of having such a broad spectrum of interests, I don’t judge based on what people like. Twilight fans won’t get ■■■■ from me even though I don’t like the books. And since I’ve been to so many cons and been on so many fannish forums, I’ve seen all kinds of attitudes, from ■■■■■■■■ role-playing 24/7 to nit-picky discussions on the physics of a Stargate.
I understand reference pictures. I just made a pair of Army BDUs because the ones you can buy at the store were minutely different from what I wanted for the costume.
Why do you have to throw religion into this? Give the Jewish people a break.
