New to the site (sorta) but not to building props

Hey guys,

As the title reads, I am somewhat new to the site (been visiting it for years just never joined).

But I’ve been building props and things for close to 20 years.

My history with props includes mostly Star Wars and other sci-fi costumes, weapons, droids, helmets and gear. I use many techniques such as casting, vacu-forming, welding, painting, weathering, sewing, CAD, machining (lathe and mill), woodwork, resin casting, electronics, etc…

My recent past includes, interests and collecting classic arcade and pinball machines, I repair, restore, collects and play them but have recently been looking for something else to focus my attention on.

I work in the bio medical electronics field as a technician/engineer, working on mostly high speed, high precision placement machinery and robotics. I occasionally design circuit boards (PCBs) and also layout and setup electronics manufacturing production lines.

My interest in the site and the reason I finally joined is because I am currently building my own buck for a proton pack shell mold and there are many great references on this site (detailed, high res photos, plans, and info).

The purpose is my wife and I decided that it would be awesome to dress up as Ghostbusters and have our 2 year old be slimer for Halloween this year. I could not go the flimsy route and have since decided to make an accurate recreation of the costume and gear.

I’ve been wanting to take that on for years, just never had the time so I guess now is that time.

Anyway, sorry for the long post.

I’m excited to join such an awesome community.

Thanks for reading

Greg
