Hello everybody. I am just starting out and had a question regarding the flight suit sizing. I am 5 ft 6 and weigh 145 lbs. What size Nomex and Tru Spec flight suit would best fit me? Do I want a Short or Regular? I seem to be in the middle “gray” area when it comes to height. I cannot find any places locally where I can try on any suits to test them out. Also, where is the best place to purchase one? Ebay? Amazon? I appreciate your time and help.
Best way I know how to do it is to measure your chest, across the shoulder blades but under the arms, and then around your stomach, across the kidneys and belly button. Take both measurements standing and sitting.
Take the largest measurement, and go to the Tru-Spec website. They have a sizing chart on their flight suit page. Match your measurement to the chest measurement they have.
You can almost always fix length, but if a suit is too baggy or tight in the torso, not much you can do without major tailoring.

Hey man, I’m 5’ 8" and weigh about 175. I wear a 42R (nomex), and it fits perfectly. I think a 40R, or possibly even a 40S, would be perfect for you.
Remember, when you’re looking at the size charts they are designed to help you pick out a uniform that will have a very tight fit on you.
That’s the way the military wears them, which isn’t what you’re going to do.
In the films the suits were a little on the baggy side.
