I finally got a round to putting together the foam trap kit I got from Nick. It was super easy and looks great. For those who want a great looking prop and not have to worry about it getting knocked around a bit, I highly recommend getting one of these kits!
but I agree: the Nick-a-tron foam trap is awesome. Especially the one with the rubber skin.
Here’s mine, almost finished:
It’s super sturdy and lightweight considering the detail. And it will never, ever break. Maybe, in a hundred years, the paint layer and foam will deteriorate, but other than that, no concerns with hanging this from your belt.
I hollowed out parts of the trap and installed a simple LED under the accurate red light lens cover, with a small switch on the outside and batteries inside the hole in the foam. For added stability, I made a base plate from black plastic cut to shape, and installed (static) “wheels” made from washers and rivets. While the trap does slide quite easily on those, they are not functional rolling wheels, just for looks.
