Nickelodeon Slime (now with PICS)

remember the canisters of colored slime that you could buy for the Real Ghostbusters toys back in the 80s? well, Ive found a close substitute, although it only comes in green right now…

(the slimer blower, available at Walmart) - and in the vicinity of the slime blower you should find some refill canisters… they are clear so you can see the green slime, and they have different colored tops/bottoms (see pic below) - a refill can is about $8.00

now, it’s not quite as “liquidy” as the Ecto-Plazm was, as I tried to pour it through the holes in the roof of my RGB firehouse last night, and it does not like small spaces, and wouldnt go through the holes - I dont know if coldness affects it (though it was about 65 - 70 in my house)

has anyone else come across this stuff, or any modern day slime accessory that rivals Ecto-Plazm?

I did some more experimentation with the Nickelodeon slime, and found that with some practice, it can be used as an Ecto-Plazm substitute…

as you can see, I was having fun last night, LOL…

I discovered that if you pour the whole canister onto the square “window” on the roof, it slowly begins to drip down through the small holes, so you must be patient - and its hard to clean up, I took some toothpics and q-tips to it and still ended up putting it in the shower and blasting it with water

Wonder what would happen if you heated it up a tad, just to make it less stiff.

The Ecto Plasam was just a stiff. I remember plunking it out, it staying in form then slowly slipping through thr grate. It as well was a bitch to clean up. I usually had some crusties left over

Yeah I hated that crusty ■■■■ too, everytime I would play with my fire house it would start flaking off and get everywhere.

my nephew stayed over the other night, so of course he wanted to play with his Ghostbusters, so we poured the slime on the roof of the firehouse

he thought it was pretty cool…

awesome pics. Makes me wanna bust out all my stuff outta the attic.

Yeah, I agree. Oh those were the days, how I miss them so.

My mother would never let me have the slime. Reminds me of when I got my Firehouse playset for xmas. I asked where the slime was and they said it didn’t come with any. I remember playing outside a day or so after and looked into my basement window and saw the canister of slime sitting next to the trash pile. Another time, I was at the mall and I had just got the orange ghost, I can’t remember his name, but he was in the line with banshee bomber and sludge bucket. We took a break from walking and I got to open it. My grandpaw decided to slide the slime canister out of the way and hid it in the mall mulch bed so I wouldn’t see it, but I did. At least thats what I remember of all the times they kept me from getting to play with slime. “Its too messy. You’ll get it everywhere.” was all I ever heard.

Yeah my folks did that too, but I always found it, and made a mess, but what fun.

heh, glad to see you’re having as much fun with Slime as I’ve been. Adding filtered water can help make it runnier and help keep it moist when stored.

Ah I remember all the Ecto-Plazm and TMNT Ooze I had as a kid. My mom enjoyed buying it for me and my sister. She’d give us a large plate to play with it on.

Figure it’s okay to share this here rather than start a new one. I was at the Dollar Store and lo and behold, found something fun. For a dollar, I couldn’t resist  They had green and GB2ish pink as well as some others. I played with it some and got the guts to yes dump it through the roof of my beloved playset. It’ll be okay.

It has that really nice slow drip as well, once it got some weight behind it, it was all over for Venkman. Really a lot of fun. now to attempt to clean up. Great feel, looks and feels really liquidy and mucus-like as in the movie and solid enough to have a lot of fun with.

Man… THIS is the reason why growing up in the 80s was fantastic! You couldn’t play with toys in this way these days… too many joints and pose-able limbs to clean out, they just aren’t built for sludge bathing anymore…

If you are still looking for ideas on finding replacement slime, I think I might have another idea where to look. (please don’t haze me for it) If you are looking for slime, look for ooze/mutagen. Playmates re-released the mutating tmnt figures for the movies and cartoon series and each mutatin’ turtle figure came with a canister of ooze. From my memory it was more or less the same stuff with a different logo on the side (and a slightly different shade).

Man I wish i had a time machine and go back to the 80’s. best time of my life.

I’ve got a time machine. Works like a charm every time.

It’s called booze. Take enough of it and you wake up 3 days into the future.

I haven’t quite figured out how to go back in time yet though. More research is needed

I HAVE IT!!!

when you drink the booze, you have to stagger backwards! That’s the key…

QUICK! How many bottles do I need to get 20 years?

Here some pics of the green slime. Man that stuff had some good long hang time making it from the third floor to the bottom. That ■■■■■■■ Louis Tully got out unslimed. BTW that pic of the slime with him looks really sweet I think!!

If you can find this stuff at your dollar store, I recommend it! Some really cheap thrills!

I always just thought that was a skylight in the top of the firehouse.. pretty cool!

The Goop Grates!! I really think more and more the later series lighter skinned Winston figures look like Obama!

Obama’s a ghostbuster?!

This explains everything!!!
