Ok so I’ve been searching the forums trying to once again figure out what the colors were exactly, and also trying to determine which suit I want to make (dark or light). Right now I think I’m gonna go for the lighter suit using a khaki and try to dye it grey.
As to some of the comments above about the suits looking more grey or more khaki this picture here definately looks really khaki:
As for the GB2 uniform, this one looks really dark grey:
Anyways what I think is pic a color you like and go with it. I don’t know that there is a definate answer as to what the actual official color was without asking someone who worked directly on the movie. Different lighting definately can change how the suit looks.
Ok with all that said for this halloween I’m looking to go as a just slimed GB with atleast my trap I hope to finish in the next couple of weeks, and possibly my updated pack (been working on re-doing it since I first built and posted it on ghostbusters.net). Anyways just a opinion question don’t you guys think it’ll be better/show the slime more easily to go with the lighter colored suit?
the way i see it is that no matter what the ONLY real way to find out the actual color or whatever is to actually talk to the people who dyed them or whatever they did to the suits…and to actually get the same exact material used…adn go through the exact same process of dying them…chances of all that are slim…no matter what the suits are almost ALWAYS going to look different colors because of the lighting wherever they are…the flash on cameras when pics are taken makes them look different shades of color than others…its almost impossible to find out exactly what it is…the best that can be done is just pick a shade you like and do your best to get it that color…but again no matter what some of them will look grey some khaki, some grey/ khaki, some with a purpleish tint, some even have a very slight blue tint to them…its mainly in the lighting…the only other option is to go see the suits in person…and since they are inside under a certian type of lighting they are gonna still look different…
i know i pretty much rambled there but i thik thats the best way i can explain it all
My post was directed towards gbfreak1989. Lighting does play a role, but the suit colors have been confirmed a LONG time ago on the old ASAP forums by people who worked on the films.
now all of this is just ridiculous crazy talk. all of you need to watch the films. its not about lighting, or cloth, or dye. its about paint: look carefully. there’s really no flight suits in the movies at all. the actors had to sit down and have their costumes sprayed on them. in fact there’s no clothes in the whole movie. hollywood, what a town!
hahahaha…sorry, couldn’t resist
in my (serious) opinion, it doesn’t matter if it’s khaki, grey, navy, or charcoal…someone could come up to you and issue challenge to what color your uniform is, but if you have a picture in your pocket, of the scene you used as a reference, then there’s no huge arguement.
you can just be like…BAM (insert color of choice), and slap the pic on the table!
I’m looking across the room at an original suit. Most of the older guys here know me…I’m the guy that purchased Ramis’ KHAKI GB2 suit at auction several years ago.
The khaki GB2 suit really IS khaki. It’s so khaki that it has, in fact, an almost “fleshy” tone. Hard to explain (and even photograph, given how I’ve got it lighted, so don’t bother asking), but there it is. It’s ribbed, and custom-created, as far as I’m aware.
