Official Ghostbusters on Facebook, good news?

So If anyone is a fan of the official Ghostbusters Facebook page, then you probably know that before Ghostbusters was re-released in theatres it was announced on the account that “the mayor had some great news!” and it was just that! The movie was back on the big screen.

Well the point of my post is I just saw that they have updated their status to:

“Just got off the phone with the Mayor. He’s called us down to City Hall, again. It can’t be…”

What do you guys think it wil be? Do you think it’ll be the official announcement of the third movie? Or am I just getting ahead of myself? What are your thoughts? It has to be something good since it’s a reliable page! Check it yourself?

I doubt it’s GB3-related, but it could have something to do with GB2; a possible BluRay or theatrical release this holiday season…

yeah i saw this tonight,it kinda sparked my interest as well but it’s more then likely Ghostbusters 2 related.

I believe that they had the same post up a few months back.

oh sneaky facebook why you temp us?

Right. They did. And that was leading up to the news of the theatrical re-release.

Wonder what this one will be.

Didn’t they already announce… that it was nothing?

Key to the city

Whoops, guess I missed that… Oh well.

GB 3 will come eventually, with everything that has been happening with GB the last few years as far as licensing and the popularity of it all - but I really suspect no matter what happens, the fans will never be happy with any further GB movies.

The fans are rarely happy with anything that is put out.

Good point. Even with the Matty Trap (as awesome as I think it is) people were complaining. Some folks are never happy. If they do GB3 right I will love to see it. If it’s half assed, and poorly written well, you know…

Does that make them “fans” if they hate it?

These “fans” are the same people that b**** about Mattey Collector even though they have put one of the most accurate toylines out for GB movie and cartoon alike, or complain about artistic liberties taken with Comics and Video games. Its like they think its always been this good to be a Ghostbuster or that companies have some obligation to make everyone happy and care to each and every little need. Either way if GB3 gets made I will be there in uniform opening night and will see go see it again and again no questions asked. Here’s to hoping for the best and either way thank you to all the companies out there giving back to us.

Sent from my Motorola MT500 using Ghostbuster Fans on Android

I agree completely on all points. Matty made a lot of things I wanted as a kid happen (movie likeness figures, badass props, a Vigo figure, etc.) I don’t understand the complaining. Maybe I’m just an easy lay. :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s an interesting question, because a true fan will love it all and appreciate it for what it is.

Though there is a type of fan that is so strict, that very few things will please him or her.

I guess it boils down to if you’re a hater or if you’re a player.

I was fine with Crystal Skull, yet so many hardcore Indy fans found things to ‘hate’ about it.

That’s what I believe is going to happen with GB3 if/when we get one.

It’s tough to bring back a franchise that has been MIA for so many years. Not only do principal cast members get older, but the world changes and grows too - a further installment simply won’t have that same “flavor” like the previous ones did because the movie is being made in an entirely different decade.

The only exception to this would be a period film, but even then we get CGI saturated effects in place of the traditional and beloved puppets and models. It’s lost its charm.

Good point about the film Frosty, to us and the people that grew up watching GHOSTBUSTERS, we would love the film for what it is. Newer generations may not have the same feelings and nostalgia that we would get from it and would probably fail to appreciate it for what it may/may not be. A true fan can be a fan and a critic at the same time. But when you go out of your way to bash something, or complain beyond reason, that’s where it becomes a question.

The issue with the 3rd film, is since June of 1989, the fans have built the 3rd movie up in their heads to the point where almost nothing will compete with what they have been dreaming and talking about for 22+ years. That is what I meant, does it make people any less of fans to bitch about the stuff we get? No. Personally I am happy with everything we get and buy it to support. But others may not be. You can’t please everyone, so you try to please the majority and not focus so much on the vocal minority.

However, a good portion of the community needs to stop expecting everything to be exactly how it is in their heads, what “you” may feel is the best thing ever may be crap to another fan and vice versa. Everyone should take a step back and appreciate the stuff we get for what it is. They are toys, props, clothes, comics, video games and so on. Not to mention, they are still producing all of this stuff for a franchise that all but ended in the early 90’s.

Be happy, we could be receiving nothing at all like we were 5 years ago.

My thoughts EXACTLY! Very well said!

It happened with the Star Wars prequels and with Indiana Jones 4. When there is such a large gap of time between films, fans start fashioning in their heads what they believe a new installment will look, sound and feel like.

It’s a paradox really.

Ghostbusters 3 = Duke Nukem Forever
