Hi, I have a problem.

I scored a sage green original CWU-27P (or how is spelt…) flight suit on ebay for just 9 USD. I was confident buying it as I thought that I could actually have it colored by Halloween but I tried with a well-known italian product to colored it but WITH NO RESULT!!! It’s still green, I tried to color it blue but nothing!!

I have this terrible doubt in my head; I’ve seen you talking about dyeing your suit with no problem, but no one has speciefied if you’re talking about an original flight suit or the 100% cotton imitation..

I’m desperate!! Another few days and I will have no time to follow my GB stuff!!

I just wanna know, IS IT POSSIBLE TO DYE THE ORIGINAL ANTI-FIRE ONE?

Try making it gray, the darker dye might stick to the materials better.

The military suits are made out of a fire resisitant material called Nomex which doesn’t take dye very well.

You’re better off starting with a cotton suit, Soren.

Ok, I had the EXACT same problem but I started from a tan nomex suit so I didn’t have to take it as far. Here is what I would do. Wash it normally first (hot water and clothing soap) and then let it naturally dry outside or on a hanger, DO NOT put it in a dryer. Get three boxs color remover and throw it again in the washer with some clothing soap and let is soak for 2-3 hours. Then Get 2 boxs pearl gray, half box black and let the thing soak in a washer for about 2-4 hours. If this doesn’t work, you could always buy another suit (a cotton Rotco khaki for 35.00 or so from your local military surplus store) or you could be a fighter pilot for Halloween. Haah, how funny, just yesterday I was trying to remove the sage green from a real CW-whatever flight suit I got off Ebay too and man, that sucker will not fade worth anything! I don’t want to try dying it Grey yet because then it’ll just be dark green-grey. Someone mentioned dabbing some clorox bleach on the leg cuff or something unnoticeable like that to see if it does anything and if so just wash it in clorox to get the color out. I read on the internet not to use it because it degrades the anti-flame level, but I don’t plan on catching myself on fire anytime soon, so you guys think that would work and be OK? The fabric is strong enough to withstand the eating of the clorox I think. I might just try it…
