I just want to put it here. Where did this whole trend of charging $200-$300 for an LC-1 Alice frame come from? I know they are less common than the LC-2s but let’s get honest on this one.
Yea noticed this trend on Ebay . . . Started by the 75 dollar ribbion cable “tech” . . Lame . . But some dick bought one so now its the “norm”. .
It is a sad day indeed. I watched one auction and the final bid was $305… I’m guessing like skullly said this set the standard.
Yes you get a gb1 cable with the whole thing but come on!
I want to know where this guy is getting his straps at so I can bring a reasonable price back..
We were discussing it in the chat and $60 for a full strap setup is fair.
Decent Milspec frames go for about $30 shipped and I’ve seen the real deals go for cheaper.
So, tack on the $70 cable.. which is a rip off in itself and dudes getting about $140 “finders fee”
60.00 is reasonable. . . I would buy a full three part LC-1 set for that . . Right now. . . . And you can buy a repop LC-2 set including frame brand new for 15 . . Hell they must be worth a hundred using this guys reasoning. . Like P.T BARNUM said “Theres another one born every day .”
personally I’d just try the online surplus stores and the local ones chances are you’ll find one and at reasonable price. $200-300 for a frame is just asinine
The funniest is that it didn’t take long for Phish4Dinner to get right in on the price gauging on the RPF, he wants 180 bucks for one there. Just madness I tell you!
people are dicks. plain and simple ![]()
I think its half “Oh hey, these are used by Ghostbusters guys so I can jack up the price” and half that the LC-1 gear is getting older and older. It was replaced by the LC-2 straps and pads, which was in turn phased out for the MOLLIE system. I haven’t been in the military since MOLLIE started rolling out, so I don’t know if they are still making the rucksack and ALICE combo for training.
I agree. I think the best bet is to find a local surplus store or make a roadtrip.
Just in case anyone doesn’t know, when you call/e-mail/ask around looking for parts, don’t, don’t, don’t tell people it’s for Ghostbusters. When people find out their useless junk is actually a sought-after movie prop part, the price will magically inflate. Apologies to those who already knew this.
Bought my LC-1 shoulder straps for $20 from a lady on eBay just looking to clear her stuff out. I wouldn’t dare pay 10 times more.
No, I think this needs to be repeated. I think a lot of people forget this fact.
This is turning into a rich man’s hobby quickly.
I realize that the supply chain for a lot of vintage parts is drying up and it’s becoming more popular than ever so prices will inevitably go up but where is the progression? What people do with their money is their business I’m just floored by how far they’ll go for such a relatively common part. It makes me wonder where this hobby is headed.
Chris . . Greed my friend, is no stranger to ghostbuster proping . . Theres been a outbreak recently, something l wanna point out that in the last few months has been bothering me. . I noticed alot of key members here . . . You know people that posted with worth while info and knoledge are not active or are on the rpf doing what they used to do here. . . Kind of worries me . .people getting ripped off for parts . . The Videobobs pimping this as a hustle are making this frachise look bad. . . Or worse this site. .
This is true of a lot of once-random prop building parts (i.e. Graflex flash tubes, MST3K bot parts, etc.). Once people find value in something outside of its actual worth, the sky is the limit. You just have to hope to be lucky and find someone who doesn’t know what they have, or at least that they’re good folks who won’t try and screw over the prop communities.
Yup was wondering the same thing and contemplating making a topic but here we are all agreeing. Rare and screen used start something in a persons mind to pay more. In realty my pack build and uniform haven’t cost nearly half of what most people are paying. I’m like a crazy coupon lady when finding and buying my parts lol. Shells are gonna cost more but 100’s more for better quality is something negotiable. 100’s more for something I can find online for 1$ - $10 is rediculous. That’s not a fan. That’s pure greed. Best thing ever was making a topic on blacklisted people. These are the people that ruin it for every other true fan.

I’m confused how selling something for $300 because someone is willing to pay that much for it is greed and bad, yet paying $20 for it from someone that doesn’t know what they have isn’t theft, and it’s considered good.
Its not so much greed, it’s audacity and gall of the seller, and ignorance of a buyer with “shut up and take my money” mentality.
Are you selling frames now also. . geez. . Inflating prices and gouging hurts us all . . IF I didnt know any better and my first impression of this ghostbuster prop building concept was what I saw on ebay Why would I want to become part of a community site where people try to screw you . . its bad . RECASTING . . PRICE GOUGING. . I think it makes us look bad .and scares people away from this hobby . .. . . And on that note what they have is a piece of obsolete millitary surplus . . Its not rare or scarce . . Theres lots left we just gotta trackem down. .
because 20.00-60.00 (depending on it’s condition) is about all they are worth. there’s a reason they are usually sold by surplus stores and found at flea markets. They are an obsolete piece of military equipment.
