Pink Foam Proton Pack completed.

the insulation foams not a problem, i priced it out yesterday. I was actually curious about the Rosco foam coat, I looked it up and a gallon of it was like $50+ dollars and I didn’t know if that’s a step I need to take before painting. Never worked with the insulation, only wood and cardboard cement tubes.

You can just buy flat black water washup hous epaint, and put several coats of that on the foam. It’ll end up with a pretty tough, durable plastic skin. Thats what we did on our packs, and one $7 quart can has lasted two years on two packs with repairs and upgrades.

now thats impressive

ive got a piece of pink foam, roughly 5 foot by 4 foot in my apartment that needs some attn! thanks for gettin me off my a**!

You’ve earned it. :crunch:

So My question for the OP is how were you able to screw all the odds and ends in like wires and such if it is a foam pack? cause looking at that makes me want to try.

I missed the pictures I guess.

You just plan ahead.

Basically you make sure you have a more solid material where the connect pont will be.

If I know I want a wire or hose attacement for instance, you cut out a square of the foam where the connection will be.

I’d then cut a small block of wood to replace that cutout area. Predrill and add whatever hardware you need, and then glue the block in place of the removed foam with white glue, and then fill the cracks with elmer’s wood putty.

Once sanded and painted, it would look like you have a hardware securely mounted in the foam.

You could backfill the cutout foam area with paper mache clay, or even the wood filler, bu tthat takes a longer time to cure, so I’d go with the wooden block placement.

Honestly though, I’d seriously lok at that eva “floor mat” foam. if people can make iron man armor or mass effect weapons from it, you could make a proton pack from it.

No pics anymore?
