So the question I have is. Were the cyclotron lights in the GB1 hero a bank of incandescents per lens?
Those are resistors, not lights in that shot.
There are 3 2B5-3B’s on ebay right now. Not exactly cheap though. 
I think hero pack is only to single incandescent bulb for lens.
That’s a GB2 setup though. Rumor has it the electronics were changed.
I agree with you that they are resistors, but this is the same proton pack (hero) seen from a different angle.
Not saying they aren’t the same pack but the packs had alot of work done to them between each movie and you can’t dismiss the possibility that even the electronics were changed.
Certainly, with all the changes they’ve done, everything is possible. 
Jack, they’re about ten dollars cheaper if you order from their site, as opposed to their eBay store.

That’s right, the bracket is mounted with rivets.
The same resistors are visible on the left, just barely. Same electronics, just different angle/lighting.
Surely I misunderstood because of my bad English, but I think we are saying the same thing ..
I also think that the proton have undergone many changes, I did not say that there are no resistors, they are well visible in the picture.
I thought that the proton pack (shown at the Planet Hollywood Minnesota) still had the same number of bulbs as in GB1, but it is plausible that they have been replaced or reduced in number.
However, I ask excuse for my bad English, it’s better that I avoid writing, I would not again be misunderstood.

Both movies used just one light per lense, the first movie hero packs just used different electronics.
I agree, one incandescent bulb is sufficient.
Looking at the photos I have, there are 16 resistors, 22 ohms 1/2 watt, in a double bank below the left light that I take as being the power cell limiting resistors.
The electronics uses the same blue proto boards that are seen in the DVD featurette, so I don’t think they were changed at all.
Any idea what the blue board in legend’s avatar was for?
Well there are four boards as far as I can tell, Regulator board mounted near the power cell, Brain board mounted in the cyclotron area facing out with the battery compartment behind it, Bargraph board mounted to the bottom of the battery box facing down and blinkie board mount to the right of the bargraph board. The board shown in the featurette is nether the regulator board or the brain baord. On the brain board there are two eproms one marked “low bite” the other “high bite” , there are five chips -unknown, there is a DIP switch bank to change programs and a toggle switch I’m taking to be a “set” / “reset” program switch and a handfull of resistors mounted in a dip carrier.
What I wouldn’t do to juice up the hero and futz with those dip switches

OK I just looked the photos again, what I’ve been calling the “regulator board” is the strobe board for the gun tip strobe and flash bulb. I can clearly see some larger caps and a couple coils. this thing is just amazing.
