pneumatic and electrical parts in real-world function

Hi all!

I started thinking to myself…how is it that pneumatic fixtures and tubing are connected to electrical resistors…and about the difference between the 2 clippards.

On the ion arm are the 2 resistors

Lets talk the smaller resistor, the sage M25W

It connects to the legris pneumatic elbow via a yellow tube

this doesn’t make sense

So, either the system is electrical, and the legris should be changed to an elbow resistor like this:

and a yellow wire

or

The resistor gets changed to a pneumatic fitting

On the other side is the larger resistor, either the dale rh-50 or the sage m50w

It connects via a blue tube to the top a clipart pneumatic elbow and to the PPD below

this doesn’t make sense

Either the system is electrical or pneumatic

if pneumatic, the resistor should be pnuematic, like this:

if electrical, the clippard and tube should be replaced

The clippards function differently…based on how they work, which should be on the pack and which on the wand?

The pneumatic tubes are filled with conductive gas, so both the pneumatic fittings and the electrical resistors are correct. Egon used what he could easily obtain while building the packs.

It’s the same with the yellow leg hose, it’s a grounding system for the pack so it can discharge static build up (via conductive gas in the tube) down to the ground rather than shocking the wearer.

I’m not sure if the tubes are filled with argon but that’s my guess.

that is wild!! but i’m not set on the answer…gas to electric…

lets pretend for a moment that i dont know anything about metallurgy, engineering, or physics…(which in real life I have a pretty solid understanding of physics & engineering)…

for the sage m25w, the gas would have to travel towards the resistor, because the electrical current is not traveling thru the tube, unless there is a wire in the tube…and then what happens?

for the sage m50w, the gas would be going thru the resistor…

in real world physics…how does this work?

Straight from the Clippard website:

R-331-3-Way Delay In, Spring Return, Fully-Ported Valve; R-331 and R-333 are dual element combinations consisting of a fully ported, spring return, 3-way valve and an adjustable flow control to provide a delay

R-701-R-701 is a self-relieving, adjustable pressure regulator with multiple output ports. Pressure can be piped directly from ports 2,4,6 and 8. Eliminates need for additional fittings. Unused output ports should be plugged.

It seems they both regulate pressure, with the R-331 having 3 settings whereas the R-701 is fully adjustable.

The R-701 has 8 ports, whereas the R-331 is “fully ported.”

So, it seems the difference that matters to us is the R-331 having 3 settings compared to the R-701 having no settings.

The question then becomes: which fixture should be on the pack on wand based on real-world function? Which needs 3 settings and which needs open options?

To sum that up, the R-331 is on 3 wands and 3 packs. The R-701 is on 6 wands and 6 packs.

Again, in the real world, based on the actual function of the clippards, which should be on which location?

My vote is going to be based on consensus: the R-701 should be in both locations on both packs.
