potentiometers question

Just out of interest…when using potentiometers on a Resin Ghost Trap, does that mean there wont be enough room to remove and put the cartridge back??

Just tryin to figure this out before i purchase them and my trap from Nick

For the side knobs? Yes, standard 1/8 or 1/4 inch shaft pots will be too big to allow removal of the cartridge.

yeah for the side knobs…is there a certain type that would fit at all?

Nothing you could easily attach a knob too(outside of permanently gluing it) that I know of.

oh well, no worries…cheers jack

Just for the hell of it, I googld “low profile potentiometers” and found these:

http://www.sager.com/scripts/full_story.asp?cID=0000002039&Sect=0000000003&Vndr=BI%20Technologies

These are slightly less than 7/16" from the mounting surface to the ends of the terminals. The trap walls are 6/16" thick, and the aluminum plating on the sides I assume is another 1/16" thick, so these might just fit.

Also, I’ve seen some pretty thin potentiometers out there. These are low profile high precision ones, but there might be lower profile ones which aren’t high precision.

shaft in a ball-bearing behind the plate is the best way to have movement and still stay within the wall area..

Would they still fit if i used 3mm thick aluminium for the plates?

I’m not totally sure how i would do that mate

Does this help at all?

Ah yes, now i get wut u mean. hmmm…that could just work ya know!! Thanks CPU!!

That’s a bit excessive for non-functioning knobs. All you need if you want the knob to spin is a 1/4" bolt. I use those on my RGB PKE’s.

Still less work than getting a low profile pot, and smoother action than a loose bolt

You don’t want the action to be too smooth on your teardrop knob or it’ll always point down.

It will stay up if doing it right…

That’s what he said.

I just used a 1/4" rivet.

scroll down about 3/4 of the way
