practicality of slime blower

if that thing was real wouldn’t it weigh a ton?

even with weight dist. vests wouldn’t the guys walk funny?

I always thought about that myself. That center tank alone would wreck a guy’s back.

I’m guessing thats why only Dan and Ernie were the ones wearing them lol I’ve wondered about this alot, guessing that the tanks were made of metal and “fully loaded” with slime it could have weighed in at around 200 lbs. only an estimate , could be more or less

Nah, the positively charged slime was really light.

never thought about that before. i guess why that it’s the two biggest guys wearing them

I thought that, the tanks were aluminum. And that metal is pretty light. I think so any way.

The other thing I often thought about… Obviously the slime blower is a pressurized system. So which tank(s) provide the air pressure and which one(s) hold the slime? By the way the thing is set up, you would think the green tanks hold the slime, because the discharge ports are directly underneath them. But those tanks are not very big and could not hold as much slime as they used in the movie, so that theory would say the grey tank held the slime.

Either way, imagine carrying a full five gallon bucket of water on your back, times that buy atleast three for the volume the grey tank could hold, plus the fact the slime is more dense than water and there for would weigh more. Add on the weight of the tanks themselves and all the other gizmos on the slime blower and I think it would be pretty unpractical to carry around like they did.

not to be a jerk or anythign, but why is this thread in the misc props forum and not the slime blower forum?

sorry i accidentally put this in the wrong forum

jerk(jk lol)

The aluminum tanks they would be using were deseigned for containing compressed air or other such stuff- IE SCUBA tanks. Usually, those are at least 3 inches think and totally empty- IE vaccum inside, still weigh in at nearly 30 lbs. Make it 3 times that size and you’ve got what, roughly 90 lbs for the center tank, plus about 50 for the smaller two, and guesstimate 40 lbs for the little features I can’t name here. roughly 180 lbs, and that’s empty. Fill all the tanks, the small ones weigh in around 80 lbs, the big one weighs in at nearly 150lbs full, and we haven’t even added the gun yet. All told, the main tank, plus the secondaries, plus the other little parts weigh in at roughly 270 lbs.

It was said that the 101st Airborne carried packs weighed around 300 lbs, and they couldn’t climb 5 feet up into a plane!

Good luck, fellas! I’ll stick with my little proton pack, thanks!

So that’s how arnold shcwarztidingy got so buff, he just walked around in one of those.

No, actually, that’s how Michael Clarke Duncan got so jacked. He decided he didn’t wanna be fat anymore so he picks up a tractor tire and starts running with it… He was already strong as a bull, now he’s slim and ripped.

Schwartzennegger’s just Austrian… they’re weird…
