For the past few months some friends and I have been developing our own pack lights. Our goal was to make something that was accurate to the movie though updated to current technology and easily used in conjunction with existing electronics options such as the GBFans sound board.
After repeated iterations of design, construction and testing we’re ready to offer some of our kits to the community. Here’s what comes in the kit:
Our kit uses warm white LEDs to replicate the original incandescent bulbs. The powercell and cyclotron lights both have their own speed control potentiometers so the cyclotron speed is not tied to the powercell speed. Built in screw terminals let you hook up whatever type of power source you have, the kit can be run on anything from 5-15 volts. Additional screw terminals allow for easy hook up of any power switch you happen to use. The cyclotron lights have long wires with simple 2-pin connectors that are clearly marked for orientation and the 18 inch long ribbon cable uses keyed sockets to prevent incorrect hook up.

Once these are sold out we will not be taking pre-orders for more kits. If we do make more we will post their availability only when they are ready to ship and it will be first-come first-served from that point.
We’re looking into it but it’s at best a few months away. We’ve got a prototype and first iteration with a second iteration in the works. Depending on how that goes and what the cost analysis works out to will decide if we go into production.

This kit can be run directly from the GBFans sound board. We originally designed the board to be run primarily from 9 volts and found that higher voltages can cause some odd functionality. We’ve outlined a fix for this in the instructions and will be doing a slight redesign to take it into account on any future runs. The fix for this board is a simple one requiring no soldering. Mburkit and I both have this kit hooked up to GBfans soundboards in our packs with no issues.
Would this also apply to, say, my Proptonix board wherein a 9V battery would still power the Proptornix thrower lights, but instead of the Proptronix pack lights, run your pack lights instead? These white LEDs looks really nice!
