Proptronix gun-pack kit question.

Can anyone with one of these kits installed tell me how to connect the pack lights so they run off the power of the gun kit? So both lights come on when you switch on the gun.

Thanks!

You need to run the three wires from the gun to the pack.White wire,(also called battery plus),black wire, red wire. The black wire needs to run from negative terminal on the gun board to the negative terminal on the pack light board.Red wire need to run from the red terminal(+) on the gun board to the (+)terminal on the pack board. Now the white wire runs from the gun board to the battery itself just. For say you are using a 9volt clip you need to run the black wire on the clip to - negative side of the pack board and the red wire will tie end with the white wire running from your gun board.

Make sense?

I just installed my Proptronix lights a few days ago, and I had this exact question. Here is how I was told to do it (it’s super easy). The 9v battery wires run to the black and white terminals on the gun board. Run the supplied length of red wire through the hose and connect that the to red terminal on the gun board and then to the “+” on the power cell board. Then you run the supplied length of black wire from the “-” terminal on the power cell board and connect that to (and here’s where I kept getting hung up) the SAME black gun board terminal as the black wire from the battery. So you will have TWO black wires connected to the same terminal and this will let you shut the pack and thrower on/off with one switch. This way you won’t have to splice or solder any wires together.

Here are some pics of my setup. The bottom pic is a little fuzzy, but you can see the two black/red wires on the right running through the hose and to the pack, and the left black/red wires are from the battery.

Thanks guys! Garvin’s words got me on the right direction and Kaga’s photos drove it home.

Do you keep your batteries in your thrower?

I’d like to have my batteries installed behind the kidney pad on my motherboard, so would I hook up the 9v clip AND the red/black wires to the power cell battery ports? Kind of like you have your two black wires in that one port.

Do I make sense?

You make perfect sense, and keeping the battery in the thrower was my initial idea, but because I didn’t want to keep opening the thrower or the pack to change it, I cut and spliced the wires so I could keep the battery on the outside and attached to the ALICE. Check out the section of my build thread here:

The white wire now runs from the thrower board, through the hose and splices to the “+” wire leading to the battery connector cap. The black wire runs from the thrower board, and is spliced to the “-” battery cap wire as well as the wire running down from the power cell board.

Sorry, it’s late so I hope I’m making sense. Let me know if you need clarification.

You made perfect sense, too. Thank you for clarifying that, especially with the photos! I’m about to be at that part of my build, and I was testing out my light kits last night trying to figure out how I was going to do that.

Many thanks!
