My issue with my Proton pack

Hey, I’m fairly new here and don’t really have much experience with wiring other than making guitar hero controllers.

I’m planning on fixing some of the issues with my proton pack that i made when i first got my it and since it’s using a light and sound board from heavyprops.com which i believe is no longer around i thought the best place to ask would be here.

The light board is using a 9 volt battery while the sound board is using 2 AA batteries. My question is how can i get them to run off the same power supply and what power supply should i use that would also have recharging capabilities so I don’t have to get taking it apart to access the batteries?

On a seperate note i have the Hasbro Spengler’s neutrona wand on this pack (since that’s the best thing i could find in New Zealand). I would also love to know the best way to fully take it apart so i can wire up the original power switch to the proton pack while also keeping the original circuit board for the neutrona wand so ideally I’d want options for a power supply capable of running those 3 circuit boards and be able to just plug in a charger

Any help is much appreciated and i look forward to reading your replies

2 AA batteries is 3V. The Hasbro Spengler wand will run on 4.5V~5V. So if you want something that will run 9V, 5V, 3V you will need to engineer up a DC-DC buck converter of some kind for the two lower voltages.

For your question regarding the power switch, that depends on how the power switch for your pack works. If the power switch is just a logic input, then you could run a parallel connection with the Activate switch in the wand. But if the power switch on your pack is actually making/breaking battery power, you cannot run 9V through the Activate switch (you would fry those poor wand electronics downstream). Worst case you could engineer some sort of man-in-the-middle solution that detects when the wand power consumption spikes on activation and then makes the appropriate connection to turn on your pack. This is the type of solution used in A2ThreeD’s SpiritBro controller for the Full Size Spirit pack, for example.
