Single power source for all electronics in a pack and wand?

Hi everyone!

I’m now in the second week of owning my proton pack and have noticed that the light systems (R2Devo’s V8) is a truly demanding piece of kit in terms of power need.

In 2 weeks I’ve had to purchase at least eight 9v alkaline batteries for the pack because it consumes the battery to the point of the wand lights starting to do weird things (like firing the cannon on itself and then reseting in a loop) in about 20 minutes of use.

9V alkaline batteries in my country are expensive. We’re talking 8 to 10 bucks each and having to open the Casket to access the battery compartment and change them every 20 minutes is a chore.

The electronic innards of my pack are:

  • Crick’s sound module and speaker that feed from 2 AA (2.5 each) batteries

  • R2Devo’s V8 pack and wand lights combo. Both systems are connected and they feed from one 9v battery.

When I connected everything, being the electronically impaired noob that I am I just followed instructions and what the systems demanded and that’s what i’ve been using.

I have acquired a Radioshack mini amplifier speaker that I plan on integrating to the sound system (It also feeds from a 9 volt battery)

What I need to know from you guys is this:

What do I need in order to upgrade the use of the two 9v batteries (Amplifier and Pack and thrower lights) and the two AA (2,5 each) batteries to a 12 volt Rechargeable Motorcycle Battery without burning the systems down???

The rechargeable 12V Motorcycle battery can be plugged to a wall to charge up and will definitely last longer than the 9V batteries. but I have no idea of what I would need to regulate the power to each individual system so they don’t burn up.

Another option for this is Spongeface’s preamp and battery distributor. Sends power from one power source to lights, sound, and amp. A marvelous kit.

A friend of mine that’s an electronic engineer was able to come up with a 12V rechargeable battery connected to a board that regulates the power output to each individual system (Pack and thrower lights, amp and sound module) his work is brilliant.

I don’t really understand what he did but I’ll take some pics of the innards of the pack for you guys to check dring the week. It works like a charm!! and I’ve been using the pack so far for about an hour of use and it’s still running strong! WOW.

on the downside note the pack now weights a tad more…
