Proton Pack Finished.

Some said I couldn’t do it. That the way I proposed would be time consuming and wouldn’t work. I had Six Months of Free Time, what better way to spend it? And with my creativity, I made it work. Yeah, It’s not Perfect, yeah the measurements are not right down to the last millimeter accurate, And yeah, there are better built packs. I’m perfectly fine with that.

Looks great to me! What is it made out of?

Looks good, complete accuracy is overrated!

I have a bad feeling about this thread. I went back and read some of your older posts to try and figure out what you were talking about. I think most people have forgotten your prior posts by now (at least I had), so my question is what do you wish to gain by posting this?

You could have had a fresh start, but instead you almost seem to be baiting people here. I’m not sure what materials you used or how it was constructed so I can’t comment on the quality of the pack. Does it have lights? Sound? Perhaps you would like to share how it was built? However all the reasons you were upset back in February are likely going to happen again when you start things like “For those who said I couldn’t do it”.

I am happy you were able to complete your (presumed) second proton pack. I am happy you are happy with it.

i agree with the above post. posting pics of your pack is perfectly fine but the fact that this post is completely baiting a flame war is poor taste. sorry man, dont want to rain on your parade but you are not going to get the satisfaction you were hoping to get from starting this topic. maybe you should request that this topic get locked or change your wording before this gets worse. just my humble opinion. take it or leave it

Hey guys, I see that I’m getting some pretty heavy bad feedback on my above comment .Sorry if it went unwanted, but I meant no harm. I thought my comment might be inspiring in some way.

I don’t know who you are, so I’m not sure what happened back in February, frankly I don’t care. I remember a time when something like this was an amazing build well worthy of the community’s drool. Those days are past, and there are hundreds of packs that look better than this. But that’s not what’s important, you built a proton pack, it looks like a proton pack and it’s not entirely horrible. As long as you’re happy and proud of your work than it is indeed a victory. Nice job you did!

■■■■, you’re absolutely right. It is a poor title isn’t it? And Quite stupid of me as I should’ve thought about that when I made the thread, It never occurred to me that it could be interpreted in a negative way. Is there any way I can change it before the shit hits the Fan? Normally I’d just change it but I have no moderation power here. So whoever has can you please just change it to “Proton Pack Finished” or something less Flame attracting? It’s taken me Six Months to feel better enough to post something here and I don’t want everything to go back to square one just because of this.

After the name change I’ll give you some details on the construction.

You should be able to edit the subject of the thread.

Looks a lot like my first pack. I think you should, eventually, consider replacing the bumper with something a little more fleshed out, as right now I think it drags it down a little.

About 75 to 80% of what you are seeing is made from materials bought from the local Dollar Store or the craft section at a Wal-Mart. Mostly wood construction, Boxes and such. I’ve had to get really creative with some things, the cyclotron is a Microwave Cover and the motherboard is made from a Teflon cutting board. All other parts I bought either from MMM or Ebay. All the lights work and I have a sound chip installed which gives me the proper sound effects including pack vent.

It was an ugly time for me. One that made me feel so disgusted angry and hurt that I removed all Photos from my Gallery and Pretty much gave up my account and left. I really didn’t want to come back or have anything more to do with Ghostbusters. Even now I’m uneasy about even posting this thread. But I feel now is the time to move on, so here I am.

You’re right about the Packs being built today, and that’s a problem. Guys who are rookie builders like myself don’t post pics of their builds, at least not often. All I’ve ever seen are Pro Builds, that’s why I’ve always felt this section should be divided for Pro and Rookie builds.

Fixed it. Thanks for pointing it out.

I plan to replace the bumper eventually, as well as a few other parts later on. I’ve worked in two Packs since I’ve last posted here, one for my best friend which is to be mounted on the back of his wheelchair, and this one. Due to time I’ve had to make due with a Real Ghostbusters style bumper.

Jebus, how big was that cutting board?

About 15 inches in length, give or take. The biggest one I was able to find. It wasn’t quite long enough so I bought two, cut off the length I needed from one and attached it to the other using brackets and screws. Worked really well.

It’s a fine pack. Congratulations!

Well done taking the advice of other forum members instead of being defensive. I’m glad that you came back and began sharing your work.

I was only defensive when the advice rubbed me the wrong way. When someone said something like “Stop right now, You can do this, it’s going to be too expensive and you won’t be happy with the results.” that’s issuing a Challenge. I had it worked out in my head and I knew it would work. Granted I knew I wouldn’t be able to get it 100% accurate, but if I could get it as close to 80% I’d be okay with that. The pack cost me anywhere between $100 and $200 including the electronics, some of which I built myself. And I’m Very Happy with the results.

If anyone is interested, I have some progress Pics to show :

The advice I was referring to was turning this topic around to a positive one versus a very bad one

Oh that, I thought you were talking about something else. My Mistake. Yeah, that was a good idea, I know the mentality of a lot of members here, and if I hadn’t changed it than you’d never see me here again.

Just keep this topic on point man. Talking about your build. The past is the past just let it be an lets enjoy your first pack

Agreed. Any further questions?
