Proton Pack for my 2.5 year old son.

Hi There,

I’m new to the boards. I’m planning on a Ghostbusters themed set of Halloween costumes for my family this year. I’m planning on doing a full size pack for my wife, a smaller scale pack for my son, and a Stay Puft costume for myself. First one up is my son’s pack.

I’ve been working on the model for the last few weeks and I’m pretty happy with where it’s at now. I’m planning on printing out the packs on my 3d printer. The model is mostly based off of Stefan’s Plans with a few modifications based off of different reference images.

Here’s a picture of my model so far.:

And here’s what I’ve gotten printed out on my son’s pack so far:

It never ceases to amaze me what you can do with a 3D printer these days. Great job!!

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? The future is now my friends!

This is incredible!!

Thank guys! The 3d printer is so much fun. I’ve printed so much stuff out on it. I hope it’s not too big. I tried printing out a paper version of the base at 60% scale and it seemed way too small so I bumped it up by 10%. I guess if it a little oversized he’ll grow into it eh lol.

Here’s a little update for you from the pieces I was printing overnight

great idea, what is the largest piece you can print out?

I can print 20cm by 18cm in the x,y and 22cm height.

Great job so far! I can’t wait to see the finished product!

Another little update for you guys. Printed the plating for above the cyclotron.

Looking forward to watching this

I would be honored if you adopted me.

This is incredible so far. Can’t wait to see the finished product. I wish there was more available scaled parts especially now with having my son, id love to give him what you are doing. Incredible job and great parenting!

This is absolutely awesome. Nice work sir!

Hahaha I’d adopt you Dan but then I’ll have to adopt everyone.

Thanks LetMebleed75 I hope it all comes together.

Haha, I know, we’ll be a big happy family!

Do you have plans to print other items for your son? What kind of overhead do you look at via printing, if you don’t mind me asking?

Right now I’m just planning on the pack and most of the thrower. I’d like to do a trap too but I don’t think I’ll have time. I have to do a full size pack for my wife as well.

Overhead as far as how much it’ll cost for the full pack? I think once it’s finished it’ll probably be around $40 worth of plastic. There’s a lot of finishing work that has to be done though.

Hey guys, printed a few more parts for the top of the pack. I think I’m going to make a back board for it this week so I can get the pieces temporarily mounted and get an idea of how I’m doing for weight and size.

Wow been a while since i posted some progress in here! I think the pack is a little too big for my son but he’ll grow into it hahah. Hopefully it’s not too oversized, I’m going to do the backplate next so I can get an idea of how it will sit on him.

All the pieces are still really raw but I think all the big pieces are printed for the pack. Im going to move on to printing the wand next.

I’m also getting close to finishing the model for my costume. Hoping to start doing some material tests this weekend.

Your kid is going to destroy Halloween parades at school.

Hahah thanks! Its fun doing themes for both of us. Last year we did Mario and Bowser. Made for some great pictures.
