With Fiberglass kits out there nowadays.. you just don’t see stuff like this anymore!

That is an amazing job.

VERYYYY nice!!!

Agreed. Masterpiece!

yep that is quality workmanship, Keep it up

its a shame you have to paint it black

Holy ■■■■. That’s some handy work there. I love when people do scratch builds. I’d be interested in seeing the neutrona wand too. I’d be curious to see how much of it you will be scratch building as well.

Not taking the wand on this time around. Bought all the resin pieces for that and that is already set to go, lights and all. The pack is where all the work went..lol. This is a major step up from our first pack, no for-sale sign on this baby!

Great work Scott! and Sandra

Brilliant work!

MDF FTW

oh my word! that is fantastic craftmanship! i am particularly impressed with the bumper.

Yeah Nice pack thats how may pack would of looked when it was built. Mdf im assuming ?

Elwood

this is the best wood buildup i’ve seen. absolutely amazing. particularly nice work on the bumper and cyclotron! i bet that puppy weighs a ton though!

you, you’ve earned it… :crunch:

I agree…great work Speedmonkey. I love seeing the wood pack builds. Bumper looks fantastic as well

Remarkable. Astounding. Beautiful. I would make sure the cyclotron band is raised a little bit more. I assume you didn’t intentionally have it resting right on the face of the cyclotron.

That bumper is just awesome :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks alot guys, most of the work is by Sandra. We still have to make the small round piece that goes on top of the cyclotron between the bumper. We are going to attach the two so it fits on as one piece. I put the cyclotron together last night with the pvc and painted it. I hope to have the whole thing done by the end of the week, hopefully anyway. We will get pics of the wand up later.

Scott

Amazing work. Very nice. Cant wait to see it finished

Lawrence

Thank you for all of your kind words. Yes, the whole thing is made out of MDF 1/4" and 1/2", with a little bit of 1/8" balsa wood in some areas. The bumper is actually really easy to make. I have made 2 now and both times they took about an hour to make. I made a template in CAD using Stephans plans, and that is what speeds everything up, as well as having the tools to help speed the cutting process along (scroll saw & belt sander).

Looks great. Can’t believe you made it all out of MDF though. Gonna weigh a ton.

Are those thin strips also MDF, or what? They don’t look like basswood, but maybe that’s the glue.

The strips are made of balsawood
