Real Ghostbusters Wishful Thinking

Anyone out there collect the Funko Reaction figures? Just picked up the Flash without mask from Barnes and Noble and started to thinking. What if Funko got the rights to do Real Ghostbusters in that Reaction line? It feels like a match meant to be and it would be fun how they could tap into nostalgia with the packaging. I also have The Rocketeer figure and little details like gum on the rocket pack let me know they’re careful with details.

What are your thoughts? I’d still like to see a fully articulated line, but I think they could be cool. Should even be the perfect size to fit into Diamond Select’s Ecto.

Mattel supposed to release Real Ghostbusters figures this year. I don’t know what happened with the line.

I’d rather have some nicely detailed figures rather than intentionally low-quality looking ones.

Although I absolutely despise Funko pop toys…all they are to me are a new age Troll doll. I will never buy one.

But I can agree the reaction line is nice! And it would be pretty sweet if they came back with some RGB goodness. They have GB licensing… So I can’t see it being a problem. Maybe if enough people voice it out to them…they could consider it.

I’m an idiot! I forgot that I had the Funko Pop Ghostbusters set. They do have the license.

Now hear me…I want detailed articulated figures, too. I just thought that this would be a nice diversion and felt Reaction and Real Ghostbusters felt made for each other.

Ive said before that the Real Ghostbusters would be perfect in ReAction form, because they would look similar (if not better) then the original Kenner figures, the nostalgia would hit hard! Im not sure if MattyCollector still has the license to produce GB stuff, much less figures. if they had anything going on at all, you’d think they would have revealed something, anything at SDCC which is the biggest comic-con… maybe they will have something at the NY comic con but I doubt it. I think right now DST and Funko (unless Im forgetting someone) are the main GB licensors right now.

There is no way the ugly ReAction format will every be better than the original Kenner RGB figures.

I have a really hard time understanding the appeal of those boring, ugly looking ReAction figures. They’re are the hipsters of action figures world.

they’re definitely not for everyone. the good thing is they have tons of different movie and tv licenses and have produced figures of characters that have never been made into action figures before.

Considering that Funko has access to at least some of Kenner’s molds (the Aliens series was made from unproduced Kenner prototypes, which, incidentally, is why the Aliens figures look the best), it’s probable that if they did do the RGBs, it’d just be reissues of the original Kenner figures. Not that I’d have a problem with that.

I would be all over reissued Kenner RGB figures. It worked for TMNT. I picked up all 4 turtles, April and Shredder. If they released series one with all the guys and the 3 or 4 ghosts and Ecto, I’d be happy.

Same. If the reissues happened, maybe Playmates could let one of the other companies have their molds for the Extreme Ghostbusters, including the unproduced Garrett figure. Then we’d be golden.

Reproduced RGB figures from the Kenner molds would be something I’d be very interested in.

Would it be wrong to have the classic Kenner molds but maybe with some better articulation?

Not wrong to want it, but unlikely we’d get it. None of their Reaction figures have more than the basic 5 points of articulation Kenner figures had at the time. Heck, even the Power of the Force Star Wars figures only had the 5, and that was into the late 90s. It’d be nice if they fixed the Proton Packs, so they weren’t so easily broken, though. It’s possible that if they sold well, we could maybe get super articulated figures like they did for Firefly and The Rocketeer.

Also, allow me to correct my earlier post. It was Trendmasters, not Playmates, that did the Extreme Ghostbusters figures. They’re out of business now, but all of its holdings and whatnot are owned by Jakk’s Pacific.

I don’t thing its troll dolls, I think that POPs are the generations Beanie Babies…This whole POP craze will all come crumbling down eventually, at least i think so. Im not a big fan of these, that being said I have the GB line from pop. The Vinyl Idolz line is terrible, they look so dumb, they all look like they have crossed eyes or something weird, not a fan of the kenner stuff being re-done either.
