I just picked up the second release PKE Meter from Mattycollector, and I love it. There’s only one things that bugs me about it. When I switch it on or off the wings go all the way up and them all the way back down as if it’s stretching out. The ones in the video reviews for the original don’t seem to do this. Is this a new programming quirk Matel threw in to differentiate between the original and second releases?
I have an original release and it does that, but not every time, it seems pretty random.
I got two in the latest release. One does the same as yours every time I turn it on or off, the other does not. It’s weird.

I’ve found my wings on the 1st gen unit will do the same if they are manually pulled against the servos when the unit is off, but that’s the only time I have this issue.
have you replaced the batteries? i’m still waiting for my 2 meters to arrive but i have read this problem from a few different members now. not to sure if anyone has tried the battery thing yet to see if the meter still does the funky wing thing when turned on and off with some fresh batteries. if someone has tried this could you let us know if it makes a difference or not.
I haven’t changed the batteries yet. I’ll try it. I tried changing the GB I / II setting and it didn’t do it the next time I turned it on, but then after that it did it again.
This reminds me of one of the original script concepts of how the Ecto 1 was a bit haunted and had a mind of it’s own.
I don’t like how I can’t turn it off with the wings out. It would be a nice way to display it on a stand.
just got mine today. haven’t changed batteries yet due to the hype of getting it and playing with it. i got two of them (one for me and one for my bro). mine will do the wing thing once in a while when i turn it on but not when i turn it off. now my brothers does the wing thing when you turn it on and off. kinda felt bad for him cause it does that and mine doesn’t but like we both said we can live with that cause all functions work on both, we can switch between gb1 and gb2 (not like were really gonna do this much anyways cause the change is very hard to tell unless you knew the difference). i do like how if i press button to go half way i can press the other to go full up the close it with the full open button also. i saw a vid on youtube that the first run couldn’t do this. maybe i’m wrong, but i think it’s really neat and easy to use. were gonna be replacing the batteries in them both tomorrow so we will see how they work after some fresh batteries in them.
