My fiance wanted a different costume this year, and she wanted to match mine. So, using a method that I borrowed from another member (ollidauss), we commenced to constructing a Slimer costume out of chicken wire and Great Stuff foam. It was only after we lined the chicken wire frame with duct tape and got the first layer of foam on that I thought of taking pictures of our progress. I’ve been meaning to post the pics, but I kept putting it off. We’ve been working on it off-and-on for about a month. On a side note, I also made a costume for her best friend to wear on Halloween as well. (See pic with two girls.) Both costumes may be for sale after Halloween if anyone is interested. If you guys have any questions, let me know.
Epic..
Looks like Slimer is about to throw you up…
Thanks! I made the same observation. I told her that it looks like he ate her. We thought about putting dark mesh in the mouth, but decided not to because her vision was limited enough already.
great job!! :crunch:
pouhahahaha very cool costume, great work! very cool!
I absolutely love it…
If only I could convince someone to wear it- lol!
That’s really impressive. The butt part is especially comical, lol. Have you considered adding a sort of screen or very thin black fabric to hide the wearer’s face through the mouth? Not sure what to recommend really, but thought it might help. Great work!
That’s awesome!
Such a good / simple method too!
Nice work!
Thanks for the compliments guys! The only thing we have left to do before Halloween is make it glow. We’re toying with a couple ideas right now, but we still haven’t decided which method we want to use. We have a small tube of glow-in-the-dark paint that would have to be diluted to cover the whole suit. We are also going to see what happens when we break a glow-stick and paint it with that stuff, assuming it’s not toxic. Any ideas or suggestions?
the more toxic the better.
then she will glow too.
looks good. totally neat idea how to do it, id just smooth it out a little bit so its not just glops of great stuff, not that its ahuge deal.
im stealing your idea and making my own one day.
I guess that’s ok, since I stole the idea from someone else. : ) Also, as far as the smoothness goes, she had this idea to cover the whole thing with paper mache (like ollidauss did). While it would’ve looked ALOT smoother if we’d done that, I’m simply too lazy to deal with paper mache. Plus, I think this lumpy look is more natural. At least that’s the reason I usually cop-out with.
