Slimer Costume.

I really couldn’t care less if you like me or don’t buy stuff from me. I’ve dealt with many people I’d as soon never ever talk to because they make great product. In this case you’re complaining about the rules, AJ said it’s frowned upon yet you think it should go your way instead. I voice my opinions as if they are correct because I feel they are correct, otherwise they wouldn’t be my opinions.

Don’t be a baby and say that you should take your ball and go home cause all the big mean people that have been around a while don’t appreciate you. Participate in the forum, voice your opinions. I’d rather you disagree with me and actually give real opinions than to just play nice with everyone and stroke everyone’s egos. Perhaps you’ll say something that changes people’s minds or opinions? You won’t get banned for having an opinion, even one that contradicts the forum rules (at least not as far as I know).

For the record, I have helped many people, and spent many hours on MSN and AIM answering questions or giving tips to many people.

You are right, why should I go. As for taking my ball home, don’t think that applies here. It’s not my ball to take home.

As for the rules, use common sense with them. This particulat thread is doing no harm whatsoever apart from giving some the opportunity to get on their high horses again. If it was a thread for something that members sell then yeah I’d agree with stopping it. But this is a bit of fun, and unless you have had a humor bypass, you would see it as just that. Maybe it’s because I’m not a propper I just don’t see an issue. AJ has a problem with it, fair enough it’s his site. I’m asking for discretion with certain things that really in the grand scheme of things don’t really matter one bit. Dn’t give me the churned out excuse of ‘but its not fair to…’ as it doesn’t wash. Online auctions, some you win some you lose. Tough ■■■■ if someone outbids you. Posting this link here doesnt matter as if someone wants a slimer outfit I’m sure they can look for one without the help of this site which only has 7000 members, which will be a fraction of the total amount of ghostbusters fans out there.

As for me, I’m not here to stroke egos, nor am I here to pick fights or win popularity contests. I’ll say what I think, and if I am wrong I will have the ■■■■■ to admit it.

I am not here to win popularity contests either, otherwise I’d go around telling everyone how great their stuff is and selling parts just to look good. You voiced your opinion in this thread as if it should be what everyone should follow as much as I did, and also gave your opinion on what you thought others should do, both things you accused me of.

Neither opinion matters in this case because AJ made it clear that live auctions are a no-no. Should there be some bending in the rule? Yes, and there already are concessions made for things like screen used items and such.

This forum started out as GBProps, props right in the name. So the majority of people that have been around the longest, and the original intent (though AJ can correct me if I am wrong) was a forum about GB props that people also discussed other GB stuff on. You might have joined for the game or cartoon or whatever else, but the rules in place are still connected to props (and I’m sure you’d find similar rules about live auctions on many forums where there is any sort of collecting going on).

It looks like Spongebob.

It may have started out as GBprops but I think it’s changed now into GB Fans, so my point is that if this is now a fan site then things like this should be able to be discussed. This thread is doing no one out of business and as far as I can see it hasn;t started a mass panic to buy the item before the world ends.

Also I don’t force my opinions on people. I say what I feel and if people agree fair enough, if they don’t then fair enough. If AJ doesn’t agree then fine it is his site and all. As you say it doesn’t matter what we think. It just wind me up when the forum police come along and start bashing a guy for posting something for a bit of fun.

People informed him of the rules. If people are allowed to cause they are having a spot of fun then people could argue they should be allowed to just cause they feel like it.

I’m waiting to snipe this one at the last minute… :eyeroll:  5hrs 46 mins! lol

Errr no becuause this forum is moderated and it would be up to the mods as to what was and what wasn’t allowed. I’m sure most people on here are sensible enough to know whats pushing it and what isn’t. I’m also sure that the mods are sensible enough to allow discretion in certain circumstances like this one.

Zack good luck… I’m sat waiting with a can of Red Bull, cigs and a beer with my finger poised ready to click the ‘bid now’ button!

You want a bid war…YOU GOT IT!!! :angryvigo:

Being guilty of having posted auction links before, I apologize for that. I never looked at it from the point of view that’s been mentioned, but thought that perhaps I might be helping others.. I do see both sides, now.

Zack addressed it, so a mod is on top of it. Others shared the same information, that it is looked down upon on the forum.. Questioning it was done. Everyone’s had their say. You both have something to offer the community, you both seem like nice guys, and you both stand your grand. That’s admirable.

However, since you’ve both acknowledged this is AJ’s decision..why not let it rest? The guy didn’t know, because like me, he didn’t read the rules. He knows now, as do I. Regardless of all the “I think you shoulds/shouldn’ts,” it most definitely is AJ’s call.

Sorry if I’m out of line.

Damn it Exoray, I have been watcing that Iona. Oh well…

Really I implore anyone to read this thread, I believe our host has made it quite clear, but not clear enough for some obviously…

Sorry wasn’t me, I was busy snatching some found Star Wars stuff today… And in either case my Iona collection is doing pretty well, and I have not added to it for quite some time…

It’s ok. I’ll get my PKE eventually.

Thanks for the link. I managed to stumble on that one after making my mistake! I am up-to-speed.

jhsanny and exoray mentionned it quite well, the rule is not known by everyone and that’s why some old timers mention it. This shouldn’t have turned in a bashing contest like it did, nothing malicious had been done or said originally.

This being said, there are reasons why sites related to collecting and propmaking don’t like posting of live auctions, and the reason is the increased pricing caused by it making problems for those trying to buy. Yeah, it sounds weird at first, but it makes sense if you think about it. I too frowned at first when I’ve been told several years ago, trying to do “the good thing” but obviously doing something people didn’t like.

For the records, shill bidding is illegal, can result in closed eBay accounts and fines, and is NOT common practice. What’s common is sniping the item to prevent shill bidding. Also, sometimes the seller has no clue of the value of the item he’s selling, so even if shill bidding was common practice, it wouldn’t be an excuse to do him publicity. If the seller isn’t advertising in forums, chances are he’s not in the know about the collection value of the item. That’s when its good to try and score the item at low prices.

Also, sometimes there are typos, making the item hard to reach by normal searches.

think “porton pack” or “inoa show polisher”… when you have a lead on this, and some bozo post the live auction making it pass from 99 cents to 99$; it SUCKS.

Exoray, lucky you. I never managed to get an iona shell. I did score a graflex, and the best was a krups coffina for dirt cheap - no, cheaper then dirt : it was ludicrously low.

Maybe we should put a thread on our eBay scores somewhere?

Ok, I deleted the link to the auction, and just posted the pictures. Probably needs to be moved to a different category. I can only do so much. What I find funny is that after all this talk about shill bidding and forcing the prices on items to sky rocket, which I completely agree with. I was able to buy a bumper for cheaper because of a typo. This slimer costume didn’t even sell. Zero bids. I just though it was kind of funny is.

So all those people hoping to get a deal will be really ■■■■■■ at that high price there…

Zack you liar! What happened to our bidding war?

if you don’t want to try to understand, I won’t waste my time trying to explain the idea…

It’s ok save your finger energy, I get what you are saying. It’s just that your theory didn’t seem to apply in this case at all.

Just leave it Lionbush…Rules are rules
