So...Any honest worries?

The only ghosts we saw the ghostbusters capture in the movies were the ones advanced enough to need to be trapped which amounted to 4 ghosts total I think. Slimer, Scari Brothers, and a jogger. For all we know there were always combustible ghosts in the movies. Class 1 ghosts for example amount to things like mist or orbs of light. It doesn’t break reality to have low level ghosts that dissipate with a proton stream. It’s like the difference between spraying for ants and catching a rat with a trap in the exterminator business.

only worry i have is im seeing alot of Book ghosts and the last thing i want is the game to be repetitive

That’s just utter bollocks to bo frank, so I’ll break it down for you.

If you had to trap every ghost then it would become very boring very quickly. The fact they have varied it up by making a mixture of combustable, trappable and ghosts that can possess random objects will prevent the game from being 10 hours of tedium.

At some point you need to just let it sink in that this is a game not a film. Being based around a third person shooter then it follows that in the main you will be shooting things, TR just varied the ways that you have to defeat the ghosts. If it had been sone by your ‘method’ then we’d spend 20 minutes capturing one ghost, trap it then repeat three four times per level. Thank christ you don’t design games!

And no it’s not levels full of combustable ghosts. If you look you will actually see breaks in gameplay where yu have to solve little puzzles, listen to dialogue or investigate. It’s not wave after wave of shooting things.

It was only RGB that really had that “you can’t destroy ghosts rule”, a lot of the lore of the movies was never covered, so A: We’re still finding out about it B: Concessions have to be made for videogames.

As for the “weapons” (please refer to it as Equipment, that’s what the guys want people to call it) there is already precident for new specialised equipment:

Ghostbusters

Proton Pack

Ghost Trap

PKE Meter

Para Goggles

Sniffer

Various smaller meters Egon has carried.

Ghostbusters II

Slime Blower

Slime Scoop

Tripod Traps

Weird grey “thingy” Peter carries into the Jewellery store

Giga Meter

Globuscope

The meter Winson has whose name currently escapes me

New and specialized equipment is an established part of the franchise, and whilst obviously the new tech of the game has been geared towards game-like functions, it is not like new developments are unheard of.

While i agree with you on the subject of combustible ghosts, I think you should let it sink in that this is both a movie and a game, balancing both sides of the scale is important. This has been said by Dan Ackroyd himself. They are delivering a gaming experience while staying true to the rules that are established in the movies. Luckily, very few rules were actually established in the movies. Most of what we “know” is from other sources like comics and cartoons. This game will finally give us some official movie-verse knowlege about ghosts and classes and such.

No matter what anyone says it’s a game not a movie. It may have CGI elements in it to move the story, it may be a continuation of the previous films, it may be designed to look like a film with no HUD etc but make no mistake it has to think of itself as a game first.

Because even if the story and movie side of it are good, should the gaming side stink to high heaven then this game will get bad reviews.

I was goign to quote a whole heap of shit, but I cant be bothered.

Its like this, if all they included in this game was running around “catching” ghosts the game would suck balls. Seriously, that would be mind bending bullshit. And Im sure loads of people would agree.

The First movie involved a demigod. And I’m pretty darn sure it wasnt the ghost of a demigod. Look out side the box, they may be called ghostbusters, but they deal with the paranormal.

I would like to thank Lionbush, Kingpin and Wiggyof9. You guys rock my world.

Honest worries? Yeah i got one. That certain people are building this game up too much and expecting it to be a literal continuation of the GB film franchise. I’m worried that come June when these same people realize that it is just a game and nothing more will go apeshit because the delusions of grander didn’t pan out and instead of an interactive third movie we just got a GB video game.

Honestly is it reaaaally surprising that they are expanding on the GB lore of catching and trapping ghosts by incorporating shooter elements such as gunning down combustible ghosts? I mean I know it is breaking up the reality of catching ghosts but can you imagine what wrangling EVERY STINKING GHOST would feel like after a while. I think TR know what they’re doing because after I’m through with the stressful chaos that is required (or looks required) to catch some of these ghost I’m going to be eager to blow off some steam by blowing a massive horde of them back to the nearest convenient parallel dimension.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Someone else with a bit of common.

Yerp. Exactly what Ive been getting at.

Ok so we got some stuff out there. Does anyone know when or where the info for the ghost’s weaknesses will be displaid? I saw in a video but I can’t remember. I just don’t want the game to have to pause to find out info like that. Do you think the NPC’s will hollar out what we would need to use? Also during the use of the para goggles can you fire your proton stream in first person?

You have to use the pause menu/PKE meter to look at ghost weaknesses. And I don’t think you can shoot whilst wearing the goggles.

from the video with sargassi (one of the more recent short ones) it shows him get scanned while as a golem and after the scan it listed some facts and his weakness on the rght side of the screen before fading so you can see the weakness with out going to tobins but it was only up for like five seconds
