… and then the store closes. Which is probably a good thing otherwise I’d spend all my money in there and nothing on Christmas
I’m Neil, been a GB fan for as long as I can remember (I used to watch it as a kid and play along with my Ecto 1 toy) and as I’m unlikely to be winning the lottery anytime soon, and putting an Ecto 1 together, I thought I’d start with a suit.
At the moment I don’t have much, but I want to try and document the steps I go through and if anyone has any tips or suggestions feel free to chime in!
My first noob mistake was to get excited and buy this.
Which was a patch from Amazon. Which looked great until the TruSpec flight suit came in and it just was tiny. I pinned it on and took a pic with the gloves I got from the GB store as well
The gloves look way too big for my arms, so I’m going to look at shortening them or sourcing another pair. Suggestions welcome!
Going back to the patch, by this point I had been looking at the forums more and saw katarra8’s work as recommended. I went ahead and got the name patch plus the no ghost logo and I’m super impressed with them!
And you can see what I mean about the size of the Amazon patch
So I have not long ironed both of the patches on (will sew on later), and here we are!
I have a tonne of stuff to buy now. Belt, fobs, leg hose, belt gizmos, pads, etc. But so far so good!
I agree on addicting. Including my crappy horrible rothco suit, I just finished my 5th suit last night… You have to have at least 4, gb1 khaki, gb1 slimed khaki, gb2 khaki, gb2 blue/charcoal, and maybe a gb2 pink slimed one if I find another suit.
I’ve documented my uniforms in my thread in my signature. Might help. We’ve all bought something we shouldn’t have, don’t feel too bad. Yours is looking good. Don’t worry, the Gbfans store will be open soon.
I thought I couldn’t build my own either and that I would have one commissioned, but I’m glad i took the leap and decided to build my own.
Either way it can be a big investment and a “WTF am I doing?!” moment, but it is an awesome feeling putting it on. Not that a kick ass commissioned one wouldn’t be awesome either, but don’t sell yourself short yet, there are lots of great builds and help here if you want to build your own.
