Tatum says it’s not looking to happen and there was never any solid proof that it would be a true sequel. Just a lot of fan speculation.

No, not assuming anything. Anticipating the worst.
The hopes of a true sequel to GB 1 and 2 lie with Reitman, not Tatum, and that Ghostcorp thing that Sony put together. Even then, I know those hopes are slim to none.
I fear it will revitalize the franchise the same way Friday the 13th was revitalized a few years ago. Or Total Recall or RoboCop or Nightmare on Elm Street or Poltergeist. Or it will bring new attention to the original like 21 Jump Street or the Mod Squad or Charlie’s Angels. Meaning… It will do nothing at all but pollute the public consciousness.
But we will have to see. Just watched Spy the other night and laughed my ass off. So my hopes ticked up a few notches.
Nice to know that I am not the only one that is hoping for the original universe to continue. I had mentioned this before. Even though Conan and Evil Dead were remade, it is not stopping Hollywood from continuing their original universes. Evil Dead is getting a sequel in the form of that STARS series and looks awesome. Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to Conan for that series third official outing, so maybe the same can happen with Ghostbusters. Right now I am hoping that since Dan Aykroyd just got through filming his cameo, I am hoping that they give Ernie Hudson the same chance to do so. He said he be all for it. I am not really holding my breath on a Bill Murray cameo, he seems pretty content to stay away. Should be interesting to see what happens.

Generally it’s good practice to ignore things that upset you.
Still haven’t made it to Spy, but I’ve heard really good things. Life with two kids means I don’t get out much and the wife wants to see it with me so I don’t start quoting it befor she’s seen it.
Not ignoring this new Busters. Pulling for it to be amazing and hoping it surprises a lot of folks on these boards.
I’m also hoping it’s good. I want it to be good. Kind of doesn’t look good but I’m really trying to keep an open mind.
Spy is great but it has some strong language. Most of the good laughs are due to the creative use of that strong language. Makes me wonder if they can pull off a feature without the language since its such a large (and effective) part of Fieg’s movies.
Feig created and wrote Freaks and Geeks, which didn’t rely on strong language for its humor. He’s also got a (very) low-budget Trek-alike show on Yahoo called Other Space, which censors the cussing but is still pretty funny.
The reboot doesn’t upset me. I do find it to be rather irritating. Like a mosquito bite. Small and irritating, but can cause and spread serious diseases.
My uncle got cancer from a deer tick once. True story.
I made a comment on one of the GB news facebook pages when the uniform designs came out. I think I said something like, “I like the jumpsuits but the stripes aren’t very flattering.” The next post was like, “WHOA WHOA calm down there killer! Its just a costume!”
I can spend a few minutes a day bitching about movies on the internet and still lead a perfectly healthy life, but I appreciate the internets concern.
I’ll totally reject and dispute any sexist or fat-shaming bullshit…But there is honest criticism and people have a right to complain.
Spy was hilarious. Increased my expectations for Ghostbusters.

NOTHING Ivan Reitman did prior to Ghostbusters mad ehim seem like a good choice to helm a “supernatural spectacular”. Feig’s resume in 2015 is a lot better than Reitman’s in 1983.
I don’t think the Ghostbusters remake will be a disaster at the Box Office. It’ll do well because people want to see something different and the film will get a sequel which will do terribly because by that point there won’t be any goodwill from the general public to want it to succeed like The Amazing Spider-Man films.
Well, that depends on whether the movie is any good or not.
Right now for me it’s 60/40 with the 60% chance it sucks.
