Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon

…Are supposedly the new GB cast. Thoughts?

Welcome to Hollywood where we are officially all out of new ideas

My synopsis goes from great to worst:

I actually dig Kristen Wiig; one of the funniest women in recent memory. Loved her on SNL. Does funny without really trying. (might sound blasphemous to some, but I can honestly see her as the Venkman of the group)

Next, Kate McKinnon is also pretty cool. Does really funny impressions (Angela Merkel, German Chancellor & Justin Bieber are her SNL claim-to-fame). She occasionally has her over-the-top moments, but in the vein of Kristen Wiig, still manages to make a scene work in her favor.

Melissa McCarthy, I’m on the fence about. She has her moments, but often times comes across as trying way too hard for a laugh.

Lastly, I hate to beat up on the only woman of color in the cast, but Leslie Jones is totally wrong for this. That chick plays up every black female stereotype of the last twenty years (90’s BET Comic-View style)…and in her head, she thinks she’s hilarious. They might as well hire Loni Love or Sheryl Underwood with her tyrannosaurus rex arms–which might provide more comedy seeing her trying to reach for a proton wand.

Honestly, I think I’ve seen more hilarious things on my way to work this morning than anything Leslie has offered since she started on SNL. She wasn’t particularly funny a decade ago on those Vh1 “I Love the 80’s/90’s/00’s” shows & she’s not any funnier now.

Kristen Wiig I’m okay with, the others I’m not so sure about. It sounds like its being turned into a movie vehicle for SNL.

I think I’ll just wait for this to come to video before I consider watching it…

I haven’t watched SNL since the Mike Myers years but how much you wanna bet they will parody themselves after the movie is released.

And that’s pretty much what we should do since the film isn’t even in production, yet.

This is one hell of a tragedy. A moment of silence please for our beloved franchise about to take a kick to the nads.

This is just a punch in the ■■■■■■■ gut. ■■■■ you Sony. ■■■■ you Feig. I’ve been waiting for GB3 for over 20 years and this is what I get? Have you even heard the worst of it? Hitfix is reporting they want Bill Murray as a Walter Peck type character. I’m serious, this hurts. I feel like my imaginary wife is cheating on me with my imaginary best friend. This is how it ends. 20 years of Dan Akroyd’s promises, script rewrites, false starts, rumours and hope. The Internet is exploding right now and NOBODY wants this. I mean NOBODY. Our only hope is for Sony to get hacked by North Korea. Please let Kim Jong Un be a ghostbusters fan…

I will say that I do think Kristen Wiig is attractive. (I know. Short but pointless)

But how is this not a “remake” of the original cast? 3 caucasians, 1 african american.

Calm down. V_V

I think most everyone here is severly dissapointed that this version of Ghostbusters is not a direct sequel. Those of us who grew up watching these movies have idolized these characters for many many years.

It’s quite difficult to see a producer/director take somthing we love dearly and just bash it against a rock until it’s totally unrecognizable and then say that they want to preserve the spirit of the movie, just my way.

This is Paul Fieg’s Ghostbusters. Not Reitman’s, not Ackroyd’s, and certainly not Ramis’. This is what Mr. Fieg believes will sell in this day and age. Its probobly the only reason he has been able to push forward with this project.

I would have loved to have seen a passing of the torch, even if it was Ray and Winston with two, maybe even four women Ghostbusters. But to start all over again, discard what is generally agreed upon as “cannon” and start your own new version? This is why Hollywood is dying and why we as fans are making much better films than Hollywood.

Sorry Fieg, I’d rather sit and watch “Ghostbustin’ 911” or “Ghostbusters SLC” before watching the schlock you are trying to force feed us.

Okay, I’m off my soapbox now.

■■■■■■■ Melissa ShitCarthy.

Same, but I will say this: As long as the old movie continuity(original two films and TVG) is preserved in the IDW comics, than i’m not in the least concerned about this reboot.

IDW’s Ghostbusters has been cancelled.

Hey, sailor…

Yeah, the 3/1 ratio was surprising and confusing at the same time.

Having been watching Twitter since the announcement, I can only see one type of person who wants this:

Liberal, left and/or LGBT.

Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t have anything against anyone in those categories (discrimination against anyone is illogical and stupid), but what I do take issue with is Ghostbusters being used as a vehicle to promote those things.

GB should be about GB, not some stupid political statement.

All I’ve seen so far is comments like “The only people who are angry about all-female Ghostbusters are sexist men who hate gays” which makes me want to slit my wrists. 1) Because that’s total ■■■■ and 2) because of the ignorance. It’s funny how people who complain about ignorance all the time are usually the most ignorant themselves.

Morons. I hope this dies a thousand deaths.

I was done with GB3 when I walked in here, I’m twice as done now.

Whoa, PV_J! Where have you been?!

Just took a little breather to explore other interests for a while. But I’m baaaack.

Awesome, man. Good to see some old faces back on the boards, too bad you had to walk in on this huh? lol
