Someone at Atari is finally talking to the consumers!

Yeah, it’s all just a words game.

I recently bought a couple shooter games that had the same written on the back. Turns out they didn’t mean coop through story mode but rather a separate coop mode all together.

Word games is a good term for it. It reminds me of George Carlins skit about food descriptions. All a bunch of fluff to catch your eye. At least they let you customize desktops on the PS3. Batman:AA theme (icon colors and sounds are kinda GB’ish) and personal GB wallpaper > Premium themes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Skanker, since you seem to be watching the thread, do you know if we’ll ever see new dlc for GB? The unreleased maps for example? I figure you can’t say one way or the other, but was it ever planned? As a possibility at least.

Feels like Bill Murray took over the game/franchise…

I can’t comment on anything about that unfortunately.

Some said this to me in response:

I responded with:

I bought mine at target on the first day of release and I didn’t know there was any promotions to begin with. I didn’t get any of that promotional DLC that was limited to certain stores and in limited quanities. The back of the box still said there was DLC for my copy of the game. You also don’t need to own the game at all to purchase the gamer icons. You can get them on the XBLA Store.

If the consumer buys a game today anywhere and it says “features DLC” on the back and there’s no DLC to be available it’s false. It’s simple. It’s the same as saying some other kind of feature is on the game but it isn’t. For example, if your box says “local and online multiplayer” but one or both of those aren’t in your copy would you feel that was an accurate discription? I think not.

If on some level they are only pretaining to the DLC for the initial release (at certain stores) of the game it shouldn’t say “there is DLC available for your copy” in the rest of the copies. Everyday consumers wont understand why their box says there are features that aren’t in their product. Pure and simple. If DLC was ment to only be implemented on those limited quanities it shouldn’t be displayed on every box afterwards. A more accurate discription (but just as pointless) would be “DLC is available for other copies of this game”.

To simplify my gripe: My box said I was getting DLC and I didn’t get any. The same discription has always been in circlulation out there long after the promotion-code releases.

The guy then said:

I do not disagree with you, just being devil’s advocate, that is probably what Atari would say any way…“Well you got all this promotional stuff to download…”

I completely agree it is ■■■■ that it says DLC and we get nothing as far as extras months after the games release…and people who bought the game later get no promotional stuff.

Look at it in one of two ways, whichever you prefer;

It’s not included as a promised feature, but as a feature warning - ie, “This game is designed to have its content altered.”

It doesn’t matter if its innocuous or used a little or used a lot - it’s a boilerplate inclusion by Microsoft as a simple legal protection.

You can thank anybody that ever sued because hot coffee burns and sugary foods are fattening…

and/or;

It’s included to cover the possibility of content, which never got finished, but it legally satisfied by the pre-order exclusives (it says “game-content downloads” not “lots and lots of awesome game-content downloads”)

Reality is it’s a little of both.

Hmm. I could see it being either of those. But if it’s “legally satisfied by the pre-order exclusives” that sucks. Because as I stated my purchase isn’t in that catagory but the box still indicates there is downloadable content offered for my copy. But your other points/suggestions would tecnically override my point. :walterpeck:

They did have a patch for the game didn’t they? That you download..

It didn’t do anything.

And it was only for one platform. They should make the PC version their first priority.

Totally, they should focus their money on the platform that sold the worst (for realistic game style) to please the least amount of customers.

They released a patch for the PS3 version, on 26th August 2009, however this was primarily to address the mass media reporting of the inferior PS3 graphics to that of the Xbox 360 version. I think players were just lucky to get the other fixes thrown in.

At the time I had been .. (badgering, I guess), the Developers on the Multiplayer issues, not only the Trophies, but the fact that trying to launch a multiplayer game with both PAL and NTSC players would get as far as the loading screen and then cancel out, which was VERY irritating as nobody knew what region the other players where unless you shouted it over the mic, practically make MP unplayable.

While that patch fixed most things for PS3 players, those who went all out to try to earn the “Payday!” Trophy, have actually got themselves stuck, as post-patch the game believes they have it already and won’t award it to them, seing as how this is MP data stored on the MP servers and not on the PS3, there’s not a lot they can do until there’s another patch. There’s also an issue with PS3 game save data corrupting, unable to continue SP careers, or if they do, at the expense of Ghost Scan Data or upgrades data which is lost.

Meanwhile, Xbox and PC players have had no patch at all, and the Xbox MP Achievements seem to suffer even more than the PS3 ever did, simple ones like “On the Payrol”, “Loans Paid Off” and “Egon’s Guinea Pig” can’t be obtained by players who have achieved “Gozer’s Most Wanted” (if you can get that Trophy/Achievement, you should have every other one, it’s by far the hardest and most involved).

Atari have expressed an interested in doing more patches… they’ve come round to the idea that www.mygamercard.net is full of hackers who have got all achievements in this game illegally through hacking their profiles, but wanted to focus on the PS3 game save issue.

The current forum admin, Implausible, gave the impression that talks are going on behind the scenes, and it obviously takes time for companies to come to an agreement on costs, resources, schedules, and until they do, he won’t have an update for us. Also, Atari are rather busy with Star Trek Online, although Cryptic studios is the developer, this is a subsidiary of Atari and it seems staff “float” between the two companies, the previous forum admin has been seen in a more active role on the STO forums. Meanwhile, Implausible is kept busy moderating the forums. He did say he would inform us of any updates, good or bad. Bit of a waiting game really.

In the meantime, I’ve setup a big tracker at http://www.gbtvgpatch.com where players can add their voice to existing issues, or report new ones that aren’t already there, this is available to Atari and the Devs as well to look over, and hopefully incorporate into any possible future patches.

It’s not unheard of for a game to get some attention even a year after release, particularly as Ghostbusters momentum will continue to grow (“Who ya gonna call? … One one eight!”)

I gotta say, I’m losing faith in “Implausible.” He’s been online on the Atari forums basically everyday, but hasn’t posted in the GB topics in a long time. I’ll bet they’ve decided not to patch it after all, and he’s just not going to say anything. Can’t say I’m surprised. Sony had a great chance when activision pulled out to give this to a good publisher. And I remember reading they had multiple publishers pushing for the rights. Instead they gave it to a company that’s in the tank… I really hope Atari’s contract runs out soon and maybe we’ll get another game with a better publisher.

Sorry - rant over.

I agree about the publisher. Atari has been nothing but a HUGE let down! Especially for pal territories. We didn’t even get the little (all be it desireable) pre-order incentives. I can only find them on Americas e-bay site. Don’t even get me started on lack of advertisements. I know not every game gets adverts on tv but this already had 1 made for America. Just very disappointing on Ataris part.

wow no news from them…still waiting… :boogieman:

NEWS: Atari launches new US Forums and Support section.

Atari have replaced the email based support system (I never did get a reply to mine from January) in favour of a new FAQ/KB and web ticket system.

The forums at AtariCommunity.com have been archived (set to read only), those with accounts should use this link to migrate them over: http://www.atari.com/user/merge_account any problems you should post in the Announcements forum on AtariCommunity.com here: http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=90

Once you have a new Atari Global account, you can use the new support system at http://www.atari.com/support where you can access the FAQ/KB, and http://www.atari.com/tickets to view your current tickets.

The system is still rather new, and most of the current information is for their major PC only titles. However, hopefully they’ll add more, fortunately they’ve added an “My game is not listed” option that we can use.

To create a ticket, go to http://www.atari.com/create-ticket here you can select a format, choose the “not listed” option, select a problem, I would recommend crashes and error messages as the closest fitting.

You can then give it a title and fill in a description. I have already done this one ticket per format, specifying the achievements in the Xbox one (the main ones “No Job Too Big” and “Payday!”, but also the “iffy” ones such as “On the Payroll”, “Loans paid off” and “Egon’s Guinea Pig”), for the PS3 one, the continuing “Payday!” stuck for some and the PS3 game save issues.

I strongly recommend members make use of this new support system to directly file to Atari your concerns, hopefully now they’ve done this new system and Star Trek Online is running, they could devote some time to issues users file, hopefully the predomnient one will be Ghostbusters.

The new ticket system is a private affair, so I still wholehearted ask you to please continue using, or if you haven’t yet, use the Bug Tracker I recently setup, this is viewable by the community and Atari. I have mentioned it to them, but as you can expect, no company would ever acknowledge a 3rd party bug tracker in writing, doesn’t mean to say they haven’t or won’t look at it.

Some of you may have been losing your drive for this cause, but this is the closest we’ve been to obtaining this goal, we’ve had interest from the forum Admin on AtariCommunity.com forums, and now they’ve launched a support system, generally NOT something a company who has no interest in providing support to it’s customers would do, I’m sure you’ll agree.

Now’s the time to go for a big push, so please give just a few minutes on the Bug Tracker and the new Atari Support system on their website, if we all do this, it could increase the priority and could be the next project Atari sort out.

Finally, thank you for your time and support, both I and every other community member appreciate your contribution, no matter how small.

What if… you know… we just started rallying support for a sequel?

This damn patch best come out soon as for the past 2 weeks for me the game has been “REALLY BAD” now on maps that i play it keeps Freezing me & my friends will have like $100’000 in cash and then it dose that and we have to re-set the xbox.I don’t wanna keep whining about the problems this great game has but “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH” someone for god sake get of your a** and fix this mess “PLEASE” :sigh:

Um…and Wii?..cricket…cricket…

Well, the old Atari forums were closed. You can view them but you cannot post.

The new Ghostbusters Video Game forum is here: http://forums.atari.com/forumdisplay.php?f=657

The new thread for a possible patch is here: http://forums.atari.com/showthread.php?t=3560

If by patch you keep meaning sequel, I’m on board.
