I hope if a sequel gets made (or a tie-in to GB3 if that ends up happening) that it gets a new publisher, or that Atari really steps up their game (no pun intended). I’m really disappointed that this property went to Atari instead of EA (as rumored) for a number of reasons.
The game was shipped on PS3 (supposedly the system it was being developed for) with an inferior display to the XBox 360 version.
There has been practically no support for the game post-release.
The one patch to address the aforementioned PS3 display issue made it better, but still not up to the XBox 360 version.
The same patch fixed another trophy issue for the PS3, yet a similar achievement issue for XBox 360 has not been addressed more than 6 months after its release in the US, and most likely never will be.
The XBox issue does not adhere to Microsoft’s “a game must have 1000 achievement points available out of the box.” As it stands the most a player can get is 980 and for some players, 970.
Other achievement/trophy issues where people had to complete more tasks then necessary for achievements such as “Gozer’s Most Wanted.”
DLC that was promised during promotional interviews has not been released, and most likely will not be. “Content Download” is even listed on the box for the game.
The game became a timed PS3/PS2 exclusive in Europe because Atari did not have the resources to publish the game themselves overseas.
Several other technical issues that could be corrected by a patch.
Now before people jump on me and say things like “at least we got a good game at all be thankful for that” I am very appreciative of the game. It was easily my favorite game this year and there were A LOT of good games this year. And that’s precisely why I’m making this plea. There’s no reason this game should fade into obscurity and not be supported after release. Terminal Reality made an excellent game and Threewave developed solid multiplayer. This game deserves to be handled better. And while they are responsible for some of the aforementioned issues, ultimately it is Atari as the publisher to make sure that their product gets handled properly. Red Faction for example, has sold approximately the same amount of copies on XBox 360 and was released at the same time, yet received a good amount of support and DLC.
I know this is a lot to complain about, but frankly there are a lot of issues with how the game was handled. Anyway, I hope you guys understand what I’m saying. Again I loved this game and will keep it for a long long time, I just wish a publisher with a better reputation for handling issues like these would have published it.
I agree 100% that the game, in general, suffered from Atari’s inability to support the game post launch. DLC alone would have made the online experience last twice as long.
While I don’t disagee with the issues you have, the game could have been a HELL of a lot worse in someone else’s hands. Imagine no multiplayer at all (that was added in the last 3 months of developement), imagine all the versions with the Wii toon graphics. Imagine sound alike voice acting, instead of the original actors.
There are very few good movie based game releases, yet Ghostbusters pulled it off very well.
Yeah, it coulda been better, but it could have also been hella worse!
“FU*KING A” the game kicks a** it’s my fave game on the 360,you make a really good point about the patch for 360.I’ve gave up with getting polar slimer as we allllllll know he’s never gonna show up i’m now trying for Gozer’s most wanted i’ve done all the jobs & won, still nothing but it don’t matter to me as i love playing online so i’m sure i’ll get it soon enough.
Atari sent me an email saying the the 360 achievements aren’t broken and that their testers all collected 1000 points and even included a step by step list on how to get the last “impossible” achievements..
**Payday!
You must be the overall top earner in each multiplayer campaign setting in
successful ranked games.
To be successful you must meet the following requirements for each job that you
play in the campaign:
•Containment: Capture at least one ghost before time runs out
•Survival: Defeat at least one wave before time runs out
•Thief: Keep at least 1 object when time runs out
•Destruction: Destroy at least one relic before time runs out
•Protection: Raise all 3 pylons before time runs out
•Slime Dunk: Dunk at least one slimer before time runs out
I’ve got the PC version, and whilst it is definitely awesome the lack of stuff that is supported on PS3/360 is absolutely shameful, especially as it is now on steam and could no doubt easily be patched for multiplayer (last I checked it was built off the PS3 version, so there shouldn’t be an excuse), let alone the lack of extras like costume changes or unlockables
I’ve also completed the Wii version, and yeah the cartoony characters used the s**t me off. Why not use the RGB style?!?! or better still, invest more time and energy creating great styles and models/skins on all four Ghostbusters, and not focus only on Venkman (or am I the only one that noticed that???).
tl:dr .. PC rocks, Wii good, both could have been better.
It’s all BS man,i’ve done it time & time again you can’t get Pay Day,No Job To Big,and now i’m haveing troulbe with gozers most wanted…but what can ya do
Glad to see i’m not the only one who thought Atari didn’t do a very good job. I too was hoping for EA to have picked this up. Look at the dlc they’ve already put out for Brutal Legend. Also, how good was the launch of BL? I mean there was plenty of advertising, even in the UK (i saw nothing for GB). They even had Jack Black going on talk shows if I remember right?
Anyway here’s hoping that someone else gets to publish the next game if there’s ever gunna be one. That or Atari make more of an effort :walterpeck:
I dont play alot of video games so maybe i dont have much experience comparing it to other games…As a very big Ghostbusters fan, it was a dream come true…I am so amazed at what has been accomplished… Now if they can only get “the Ride”, skateboard game to the same level, I’ll be a happy camper…
my only complaint was that there was no in home multiplayer. i hate not being able to play such a cool game with friends at my place. talking shit over a headset just isnt the same, not that i have online anyway.
I’m with you, there’s nothing quite like playing a good splitscreen game (left 4 dead, army of two, borderlands), having a couple beers and being able to slap controllers out of peoples hands when they refuse to revive you right before the extraction…
The game plot and look is awesome, but the technical support and delivery by Atari is terrible
Hell yeah do i agree with this, co-op mode or some sort of off-line multi player would have been awesome, because trying to get access to a multi player with my friend over the network was impossible, not once could we get on the same game, always got some sort of error booting one of us, its now at the point i’ve not been on the game since November and he’s traded it in (not as big a fan as me)
offline in home multiplayer was kjiller on the wii, dispite the graphics difference. We were REALLY hoping for in home lan multiplayer on the pc version.. we would have even paid another $20 for that, and IMHO its the single biggest missed oppertunity of the game… PC lan/online multiplayer.
The rest of missed oppertunities are just minor things in comparison.
Overall it seems like companies these days are ignoring the possibillities of splitscreen in favor of online. It’s a shame I think, many people I talk to agree with me (and you guys) that a good splitscreen is still killer!
