Hi guys, I’m having issue with my brand new wand. This is my first prop that I ever bought. My problem is that the lights from the tube when you activate the wand, the colours are all mess up. And when you switch the mods to go through the VGmod the lights stays the same and flickers all type of colours. I reach out to Hasbro do t k pe what they will do.
Can someone help?
I had to buy 3 before I had one that worked properly. All 3 had this issue. Either the barrel LEDs did not work or they were messed up colors. I think there are 2 reasons for this.
The wand fires with the barrel retracted. Which is a production error the Mattel wand didn’t have.
The pop mechanism is manual and quite violent. It’s spring loaded and not automatic/gear driven as on the Matty wand. A lot of people slow the barrel with their hand before they use the green release lever, to prevent it hitting the hard stop violently.
I’m afraid that in my experience you need to get yours exchanged.
Always buy these things from someplace (Amazon, A shop, etc. )that offers warranty or a free exchange in case they are messed up (which a lot of them are).
Mine had the same issue and I was able to fix it. At least for mine, the issue was not the force of the pop. The wire to the barrel appeared to be covered in glue along the whole length, making the thin wire quite brittle. This combined with a wire that was probably a half inch shorter than it could have been, caused the wire to snap. It was moderately hard to fix, as you need to drill out screw caps and release the glue on the barrel tip before soldering some smallish wires. On the bright side, once repaired it will be more reliable than stock. I recommended replacing it if you can.
My guess is that some units are more prone to this issue, depending on who assembled each one.
