Spirit Halloween MT500 Mod

I love Spirit Halloween’s MT500, but the top of the radio always bothered me. Arguably, aside from the speaker grille, the top of the radio is the most important - and most visible - part. Even after fresh chrome paint, the top still looked very plastic to me… and the awkwardly spaced knobs didn’t help. So, I set out to refashion the top using real metal parts. I cut to size a 1mm thick x 20mm width aluminum plate, and fashioned knobs out aluminum m6 knurled thumb nuts and metal m6 spacers… A couple of additional screws and Moby’s exceptional sticker set, and voila! The scratches on the aluminum (from installation) add to the authenticity. It isn’t perfect - the super glue set before I could set the aluminum plate straight… but I’m pretty happy with the result. The knobs can even turn a bit on the screws on which they sit. Hope you all enjoy!
