I was just curious - how have other people gone about mounting the wonderful bezel kit from Spongebob into the equally amazing Throwing Chicken gun body? From what I’ve read people have either mounted it on the outside (non-recessed) or enlarged the bar graph hole (recessed).
I’m approaching this point in the herculean task of building a pack, and could use some advice. For those that recessed the bezel, how did you go about enlarging the hole? I was thinking Dremel, but I’m notoriously bad and controlling the wretched thing and fear carving our a chasm by accident.
I’ve yet to start this on my Nickatron build but from research I have gained from this site I would tend to open the bar graph hole slowly with a file. Take it a bit at a time and the bezel should just snap right it, nice and snug
I used a file to enlarge the opening on mine. I’m sure you could use a dremel, but I found I had more control using a simple file. Just file it down a little, test fit, and file more as needed. Do a little at a time until it fits snug. Also, you want to be careful not to get it too big or it looks odd with extra space on the outside of the bezel. I got mine to fit nice and snug without glue. Take your time, and this will be one of the nicest looking upgrades you can add to your thrower.
EDIT: Oh, and you want to file the inner side of the opening (towards the switches), rather than the outer side. There isn’t much room on the outside where the label goes and you’ll want to save it for that.
I’m pretty sure others have though it, I guess I just may have been the first to slip up in writing. Awesome pic though!
Sorry to disappoint, though a Spongebob pack does indeed sound awesomesauce… My wife would likely kill me if I ever built another one of these beast though. Two is likely at the ‘divorce limit’!
