Hey AJ, I think, if it is at all possible, that we should have the ability to delete our own posts. I’ve been to a few different forums that allow this, and it is great! It would also help the mods a great deal, because, they wouldn’t have to worry so much about deleting so many identical posts, or if somebody posts and then changes their mind, they don’t have to ask you, or one of the mods to get rid of it for them. Just a thought. 
Isn’t there a little cross icon next to things like the “Edit” button?
I think it depends on when you go to delete it.
You can’t delete a post after someone posts after you.
The easiest thing is to think before you press enter…
But, what if you hit it by accident?
There is no such thing
Accident means there is no one to blame or no motif to commit the error. If you went through the whole process of starting a topic/replying and typing it out you put enough thought into it.
There have been a few times that I’ve accidently hit the ENTER button while reaching for something. So, it can/does happen.
As a rule of thumb I have found this feature to be abused when turned on, the original poster starts a topic and doesn’t like were it’s heading or figures it’s over and poof at his command the whole thread and all the other peoples replies are gone without consent…
If you change your mind simply go and edit the post to a single . and move on if it’s that important to edit your thoughts… For me personally I exercise my own restraint, before I hit he post button the first time, and let the post ride if I do post it… Too many times I see people trying to erase history or censor history because they have regrets or second thougths, and I disagree with that…
You’ve missed the whole point
The main reason I even brought this up is, I’ve noticed a lot of “I don’t know if this goes here, but…”, or “Sorry if this has already been posted…”, so I thought that if we were able to get rid of these on our own (after the fact), that it would save AJ, Kingpin, and the rest of the mods, a world of trouble in cleaning up the boards. Not to mention, the fact that there are a number of “Locked” threads due to people not realizing that, what they are posting has already been posted by someone else.
Unfortunately I’m not confident everyone would go back to remove their duplicate post if they found out it was a duplicate.
