OK guys its been a while since I have posted anything on here. Here are some updated Pictures of my Ecto. The pictures are from this October while working at a haunted house and the others are from a charity bit we did for Kids and their mothers whos husbands are over seas in the Army. Needless to say every one had a great time. Well tell me what you think.
Wow thats awesome, great upgrades with the lightbars. We are starting an ecto project also, We just bought a 2006 white ford Freestyle that we are turning into the ecto cruiser. Going to start a thread soon. Again, great job.
We actually have had alot of Ecto’s this would be the 4th one we like it better, this is what car we used when we started and we liked the room we had for all our packs so we brought it back
I ran into Steve awhile back and he said you were switching back to the van. Wouldn’t mind seeing it in white. Of course my family owns a white Caravan so I’m partial more than just saying it should be white for an ecto. Silver worked very well on the Scion as a new age ecto.
Pretty much everyone can use yellow since it just means ‘caution’. Every city, county, and state have their own rules about lightbars. Some places you have to cover them, some places you can’t combine colors.
I Look at it like this. The Ghostbusters are a business and they need a business or commercial vehical. Commercial vehicles are usually White, Black, or Grey. Sometimes yellow. I think if you stick to these colors for an ecto it will work.
As far as my Van is concerned it was used for commercial use back in the day by contractors and small business’s. Plus Like my brother said It has the room to hold 4 Proton packs in the back plus what ever else we need. The Scion only held 2 proton packs. Err that got annoying. lol.
Every called the Scion a new age Ecto. Now take a look ath the GB Movies. They (or Ray) bought an old 1959 vehicle. Their business took off in 1984. Why buy a 30 year old car. You saw the look on Peters face when he brought it up. Before it became Iconic. It was just an old 50’s car. The point I am trying to make is that they did not buy a new car from the 80’s for their business to keep up with the times. Nor will I use that small box scion for an Ecto any longer. Granted my Van is 15 years old but it works for my team and it still gets the point accross. There is no mistaking it. even when I took the logos off and there is just the roof rack and lights people still recognize it.
Don’t worry I like it. I’m a big fan of caravans. I was justing saying I think it could look good in white as well. I’d really like to see a kind of 70’s custom ecto-van some day. I completely understand about getting a real commerical vehicle that functions, that’s why our team found a 70’s ambulance, but we’re still afraid it won’t carry all our stuff though.
Don’t take offense to Real he just giving his two cents on what would make an Ecto work. Let me tell ya it is so hard to find a vehicle that looks good and can hold everything. I want to make an ecto out of a 90’s ambulance it has the space and you could make like a mini containment unit in the storage hatch. Like this one on ebay
I know alot of people on GBI have concepts of using a large ambulance like that, and almost making it into a swat team vehicle. The box van in Freddy vs. GB was a similiar idea that worked well.
I used to be an electrician so I’ve always loved commercial vans and box vans and if Ghostbusters were real, it would be the most practical vehicle for franchises.
