First off, I used the search function, clearly the belt gizmo has been discussed about before, but none were on the topic I needed to know. Obviously there is no 1:1 image of the circuit board used in GB2, that was the first thing I looked for. Second were methods on how to duplicate it, nothing on that as well.
And it’s entirely useless, except as a reference picture, and it’ll be useful once I find a way to build it. I got the leather holster, and the coiled wire, which I’ll scavenge from my current gizmo, which sucks as all hell.
So my question is, any ideas what so ever to make the circuit board? Someone recommended taking whatever material I’m using, which will be styrene, paint it black and take a silver sharpie to it. Which might work, problem is the design is a tad more complicated than a few silver lines drawn.
I believe Ron Daniels has, or had a GB2 Belt Gizmo. Maybe if he stubbles upon this thread, he can run through how he made his? Anyway, any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

One thing to consider is that the GB2 gizmos were never intended to be viewed up close. They’re basically a quick/dirty mock up of a GB1 and they’re extremely fake looking. So to answer your question, yes, all you really need is some styrene and a few paint pens, but I don’t recommend wasting the time to make one.
No one will give you a hard time for spending the extra care to make a GB1 even if you wear the GB2 uniform.
In GB2 it seemed that they wore the belt gizmos farther back on the belt, obscuring them from view most of the time. I guess they were trying to hide the shoddy workmanship. That being said, I’m still considering making a “nice” looking GB2 gizmo at some point…

Any who, I’ll just use this as my build thread. God knows I need a better Gizmo, so I’m starting on this soon as I finish Pollo. I did however find my nixies substitute -
I’m just going to try the silver sharpie idea, it’s the best one I have. I’ll also use the motherboard from my current belt gizmo, it’s the only decent part on it.
Okay, lack of needed material is really sucking for me. I’ve decided to ditch the flash bulbs, because they won’t work for a GB2 belt gizmo. I’ll probably use them on a future GB1 belt gizmo. My plan of action is to use clear acrylic tubing, and use the proper colored wires, looks like orange, yellow, and green. Also, I’ll most likely use black plasti-dip on the tips of the nixies. As previously mentioned, I’ll just use a silver paint pen to get the circuit design on a piece of plastic.
I don’t see what’s so bad about the GB2 belt gizmo. We’ve used them for years and no one has ever complained. They’re comfy too since the top part is rubber tubing similar to the “■■■■ hose” but much smaller.
Plus, they aren’t flash bulbs, so they don’t break.
I agree (excellent GB2 belt gizmo, BTW). If well-constructed (unlike the screen-used ones), then the GB2 belt gizmo is nothing to scoff at. I’m making one for my GB2 belt. The measurements that I came up with are 3 7/8" wide by 5" (it’s definitely shorter than the Sanyo from GB1).
This morning I made a basic design of the belt gizmo’s main board in Photoshop. I’ll probably print this out on the 1/16" pro posterboard that I used for my GB1 gizmo. If anyone’s interested, you can download the full resolution version off of my deviantart account.
Going off topic a little here but were the GB2 gizmos smaller than the first movie, not just the gizmo but the pouch as well! To me just seemed to be much smaller, more compact looking compared to the first film ( could be just me looking into that detail to much)
I have often thought that about the gizmo"s seemed to be worn further around the belt in GB2 as someone just mentioned above, i suppose like what was said about hiding the fact that it was a shoddy belt addition, not as clean cut as the gizmo"s in GB

That’s because the “Gizmos” in the second movie weren’t gizmos at all. They were last-minute makeups of the Sanyo Calculator motherboard that, like Vincenzo said, weren’t meant to be viewed up close at all.
I really dig this thread. I will be making a GBII Belt Gizmo for my Charcoal uniform. I have on of Nick A Tron’s wonderful kits build by Jay Stantz for my GB I belt, but I definitely want the GBII gizmo for my black belt. It’s just something, like the clear vs yellow leg hose that can switch it up a little. Thanks for the great pics, guys! Are you guys using a ribbon cable for the nixies? Doesn’t look like Spectra Strip, like what’s on the packs, but just a more standard “rainbow” colored ribbon cable. Am I right?
Slime Guy, I’d love to see that board outside of the holster just to get a little better idea about how it was constructed. Is that a possibility???
Here’s the revised version of the GB2 belt gizmo template that I designed in Photoshop. Tomorrow I’m going to print out a few sample boards on 1/16" RC poster board. While I used Ernie Hudson’s GB2 belt gizmo as reference, I took a few liberties with the obscured sections of the board.

Although having real Nixies would be nice, the costs I’ve seen in the past, and the possibility of broken glass have left me with the resolve to try make some fake ones using acylic… I’ll be detailing how successful I am with that when I finish my new Belt Gizmo.
Hey guys. Look what I put together tonight. I own a small sign business and I cut all of this with my plotter. The trails are chrome, the contacts are gold, and it is on a piece of black lexan. The out line was just to show the shape. I haven’t cut it out due to it being almost 10pm here in CA. I used the basic shapes from Demon Vice Commander’s template with some mods of my own. If there is interest I could make these? I don’t know how much interest there is for a GB2 gizmo though. Just a quick dirty layout. I know some of the colors are wrong but that is because I just used scraps I had laying around. When I do the “final” I will get the correct colors and make the chips raised as well as the little circle things.
