The GB3 Script Thread

Talk about it here, I don’t want to see 100 posts about the same thing in different threads. Play nice, or I get grouchy and eat you.

You couldn’t eat me, Ron. I love you too much.

Comedy gold, and with the slightest hint of a decent threat.

I’m not familiar with the writers attached to the third installment currently rumoured to be employed by Columbia/Sony.

But it seems to fit in with Aykroyds comments of the last fortnight in that brief Entertainment Tonight Interview.

So perhaps “wheres there’s smoke there’s fire” as they say.

I hear great things about the US Version of THE OFFICE, maybe you guys who’ve seen it can weigh in?

I am extremely eager to see what they come up with as I’m sure every Ghostbusters fan on this board is.

Being an budding script writer I would give anything to be in those guys shoes!

Hmm, I don’t know how to feel about this one. There have been rumours before and they haven’t had any really solid grounding. Just misinterpreted comments by people high up like Aykroyd. The CGI GB3 rumour for example turned out to be the game. And I know they got him to voice venkman for the game but I can’t see how they’re going to get Murray on board for it.

Sorry to be pessimistic, :walterpeck:

But of course if it turns out to be true then I’ll be pleasantly surprised!

gbinuk

!First im glad that what i saw on et canada wasnt bullshit   and two if they pay murray enough money he will get on board, its not like he has that kind of substantial money coming in all the time plus he probably lost alot of money in his recent divorce, same as goes for toby mcguire on spider man 4 he said before that he was done no he is saying if its a good script he will AKA how much they will pay him

I got a message from my mom that on whatever news show she was watchin this morning they reported that they will be filming at the start of the new year.

Isn’t funny how jaded we’ve all become? I mean how many times has the rug been pulled out from under us? God, if it’s true, Patrick will go super nova.

Oh boy… Don’t even get us started on Patrick. Him being proved RIGHT is probably the LAST thing we need.

I have to admit, this is an interesting development. And I can’t exactly start bashing or slamming the idea altoghether, due to Ramis’ involvment with said writers on “The Office.”

When I first heard about the remake of “The Office” for NBC, I was quite ticked, but willing to give it a shot. Now, I thoroughly enjoy each episode that comes down the pike. The writers and actors took an adaptation of a brilliant Britcom and turned into something special with it’s own unique voice, taking the characters places you only wished they would go.

I can’t get overly excited about this, but then I’m also having my doubts. Honestly, this sounds a more plausible development in the production hell that has been GBIII, but…

Where’s Dan Aykroyd? What say does he have in the matter? Unless he’s turning over all writing credits to Eisenberg and Stupinsky I would hate to see his involvment be reduced to just acting and producing.

On the other hand, an “Office”-y GB might be kind of interesting. Not…not a whole movie, mind you, but, like an episode of RGB.

Eh. Just my two cents on the matter.

Sorry about posting with so many rumours around -

Found this Aykroyd interview and it looks like Office writers story might have some legs to it.

Please God, may it happen!

Interesting. Got a date to match the vid?

I don’t think it would be a “Patrick being proven to be right” scenario. Eventually Hollywood was going to run out of ideas, hence all the revisits to 70’s and 80’s franchises. I’ve always thought it was going to happen sooner or later, but I just thought it would be at least another ten years. Look at it like this: If you had a really negative friend who always talked about it raining, and then it rains two months down the road, he isn’t proven to be right. Eventually it’s gonna rain. He may think that he “told you so”, but the rain is an inevitability. If this does anything for that crazy guy, it finally shows how wrong he was about “a GB3 CGI trailer coming at the end of August because the projectors at the con were broken but GB3 CGI is coming in 2009 they would’ve shown the trailer but they are going to put it on youtube because the projectors were broken at the con.”

Not really, pulled it from this story..No date stamp on video

For anyone interested, I work in a radio station reading news/sport/entertainment - I’m off today but my colleague Gavin will be reading the GB3 News on the showbiz gossip in the next two hrs.

Listen in if you’d like to hear it, he is going to run the Aykroyd clip I found. Its on at 6.45pm (Uk/Irish Time) Which is about an hour and 10mins from now.

let me know if you hear it..

I can definitely understand why so many are jaded about GB 3, after being lead on for nearly a decade. However with so many news reports coming in, Columbia’s ‘no comment’, and word coming from the man himself (Dan) that there is a script being written all lead me to believe that the rumors are true.

But honestly; the rumor is that a script has been ordered by Columbia, not that the film has been green lit for production. Exciting none the less. I’m a tad bit disappointed in this sites lack of interest in reporting this news, mostly because any buzz that can be generated would be a good thing as far as helping the film actually get made.

(Edited for grammar)

My biggest question: where will this supposed sequel leave the video game? Will it be in-continuity? What about the game’s Proton Pack enhancements? The new recruit? Will they cast Ryan French to play the role?

I mean, the game makes some pretty big strides. New recruit, new equipment, no Dana, return of Gozer. Events that are too big to go unmentioned in another live action film. So if this film makes it to the production stage, I fear that the game will be made expanded universe like RGB/EGB. When you think about it, the general audience would be confused as all Hell if the stuff from the game was to be mentioned, because not everyone will have played it. So it would have to be in the film in such a way that it introduces the elements for people who didn’t play the game, but doesn’t over-flesh them out for the people that DID.

Remember General Grevious in Star Wars Episode III? Introduced in the Clone Wars mini-series, appears in the film with little explaination about him.

And what about game sequels? Guess after that point, they wouldn’t be able to be set prior to GB3 anymore because you can’t make anymore big additions to the universe because they might not line up with GB3.

Perhaps I overthought this. It’s not like Murray will accept even if the film makes it that far, and I doubt he’ll voice Venkman again in-game anyhow.

GB3 news On radio station to run in 15mins or so..
