I am going to admit that I am one of those fans who is excited about the reboot. But there is one thing that if true will be a bit of a bummer. It’s not a deal breaker for me but I was wondering if anyone has heard any new rumors about the trap in the new film.

The prevailing rumor that seems to come from the sony emails is that the new Ghostbusters will not trap ghosts but will blast them away or something else.

I posed this question to the Ghostbusters of Southern California who were at comic-con. I asked if they had heard anything else about other equipment that would be featured in the movie. The people they talked too assured them that more pictures of different equipment would be released but they weren’t liberty to say exactly what. But they did say the pke meter and trap were “hinted” at.

Just wondering what if anything you guys have heard?

I heard there’s a compartment on the pack that is a removable trap. So the ghosts are sucked up by the proton stream, through the pack and into the trap.

I also heard the rumor they would just blast the ghosts and not trap them. Supposedly they blast the arms and legs off one and it becomes their version of Slimer.

The Sony Rep we talked to said that this info is incorrect. The trap is a separate item

Yes, that is what I was told.

Nice! That was one of my big fears.

I would think having their HQ over a chinese restaurant would be an issue for the containment unit,unless it’s the size of a washing machine or refrigerator.

I was concerned about that as well glad to know there is a trap.

I thought I saw it on the bottom, you see that handle that is flipped down? I think they can reach back, or co buster can reach back and then pull it out and there it is. I am just guessing here, but when i first saw the pack it stood out. Also yellow/black stripes right above it, so maybe? Again just my guess.

I can say, on good authority, that not only do traps still exist, but they still have hazard stripes.

All I can really say is that I know someone who saw them and gave me visual proof that they were close to them, but not enough proof to really get any details. I signed a non-disclosure agreement so that’s really all I can say, sorry guys.

That yellow/black rod with the stripes is a hinge. That door appears to flip up. Didn’t the label say it was a cooling system?

It’s technobable that implies it’s a cooling system but who knows what it’s actually for.

I think the warning label on the wand says something about an ectoplasmic diffusion system. Which sounds to me like something that would disintegrate ectoplasm or blast it out of existence.

We’ll have to wait and see how it all works. Hopefully they’ll keep releasing information about props like they have been.
