The Ultimate Prop?

Has anyone ever gone as far to recreate parts of the Firehouse or maybe even bought a run-down one and converted it GB style?

There isn’t much TO recreate from the firehouse that’s noteworthy except the Containment unit; which people have done.

Sean Bishop actually recreated the green and white tile design from the Engine Bay for his old workshop.

Various people, including the Real Tampa Bay Ghostbusters have replicated the Containment Unit.

Then there’s a few people who’ve replicated the exterior, a few of these being Lego models, but at least one being a mockup for the Minimates.

I plan to make a 3D replica of the of the Firehouse interior filming location, once I get enough reference.

I believe they used a old firehouse in some shots in the Ghostbusin’ 911 fan film series. That’s the best recreation of a GB HQ I’ve seen.

depends on what you mean. We shot footage for our fan film in a REAL Firehouse (not as nice as GB911, but it was free) I have made a room in my basement into a GB research Lab. It would be cool if we could buy an old FH but we can’t afford packs LOL.

Firehouses like ol 23 and H&L 8 are getting rarer.

Unfortunately big time house like that are normally city funded and city owned.

Therefore if they get relocated or shut down, they normally get junk put in them and used for storage.

So, to find one that is for sale would be great and cool.

Sam, that is your new mission!!! : )

There’s some old stations around here in the 'burgh. I know there’s one still in use at the intersection of Maytide and Rt 51.

This should be it

you’re in the Burgh?

Your correct.

They shut it down probably three years ago…

Slowest house in the city, they normally keep a back up engine there.

There was an old station in Arlington (or thereabouts); it got converted into condos IIRC.

Chicago City Officials are too damn cheap to shut down their firehouses. That’s why in the end I’ll most likely turn my garage into a firehouse engine bay, problem with that is there’s 2 firehouse doors on the Engine Company 8 firehouse in Chinatown we use as the front of the building, and my garage only has 1 door. It’s deep enough, sure, but it’ll suck making it convincing.

We tried to use this firehouse SEVERAL times for our fan film Hellbent, however in the end it all came down to schedualing differnces as the HQ had been preserved by a historical society and is now used regularly as a theatre house for pays and what not. However taking a walk in the inside, ignoring the stage off to the side and you feel like your walking through GB HQ as it is built in a VERY similar fashion, not to mention the firepoles are still in place! Maybe for our sequal…lol.

Would a pole in the house count?

Depends on what you are using it for!

Kingpin let us know how you go with your plans. I’m keen to see dimensions and stuff.

I looked up F/S 23 on Wiki last night and it listed some basic dimensions of the ground floor, but it’ll still be good to see some accurate blueprints.

Sadly things are moving at the rate of a glacier, my contact needs a lot of prompting each time to get anywhere. :frowning: I’ll send him a remind tomorrow.
