I’d rather a more ‘been used a few times’ look than a ‘got dropped in a garbage disposal’ look, but yeah, I think a clean sharp shell can make for lots of weathering options.
Your master is beautiful, by the way.

Limited run being offered right now…
You wouldn’t happen to have any pictures showing how this shell lines up with Colin’s current motherboards, would you?

I will later tonight as several have asked, but it won’t be the best picture as the master has a rough cut 1/4" backer board on it right now for casting reasons, and that will make the profile look a little wonky…
OK here are some quicky shots of the fit to motherboards that are laser cut to Stefan’s plans… This is a irricanian (Multimedia Mayhem) board that I used for an example…
Now the biggest issue can be seen in the block on the bottom where the injector hoses attach, the rest of the fit is pretty good, although a little correction along the whole left side would make it fit just that much better… Since it’s aluminum a medium hand file should make quick work of making the fit that much better… You would simply lay the shell on the motherboard, take a marker and outline the shell, then file off the marked areas…
And for those that missed the reason for the misfitting, it’s because this shell is not built to any plans (with permission) I used Sean’s (venkman71) shell as a basis for my build, it was built with measurements he took from a real pack… After some debate between me, myself and I, I decided to I leave many of those discrepancies in my buildup, some were tweaked a bit but most remain… The close fit actually shows how close and accurate Stefan’s plans are…
Are you flipping kidding me? Dude, that’s flippin’ SWEET!! Sure that last bit where the injectors are attached needs to be adressed, but aside from that, that’s AWESOME. I’m crying inside… I WANT ONE, SANTA!!

I don’t even think the real packs fitted the motherboard as well as this one.
Yeah that’s a great fit really… I don’t think having MMM do custom mobo’s is necessary IMO.
Oh and Happy Thanksgiving everyone…
That looks great! so how accurate would you say this is? 96.2% ???

 Smart-ass.
The Pics look great. I must say, the fit is better then I expected from the way you first talked about it. Great work.

More accurate then some maybe not as accurate as others…
So you’re saying that in those areas where there’s a mismatch, it’s because Stephan’s plans didn’t match the screen used packs precisely?
No.
There are tons of reasons why they would be different.
That may be, but I did just look at Ray’s pack, and the shape of the piece where the injector wires connect appears to be pretty accurate on this shell, and that the motherboard beneath it conforms to the shape of it, so it would be a good idea to file that portion of the motherboard down.
Unfortunately, I can’t find a reference pic which shows the curvature of the board around the power cell itself, so I have no idea which is more accurate there. I guess it doesn’t matter since it’s hidden under the cable though.

Stefan’s shell plans vs his motherboards plans don’t even match each other totally…
There are tons of factors involved, including the fact that the screen used shells didn’t even fit the motherboards all that well…
The biggest reason there is a misfit in this case though is that the cosmetic plates on my shell are NOT all the same size contrary to Stefan’s plans where they are all the same…
The different sized cosmetic plates were carried over from Sean’s (venkman71) shell, he built them according to actual measurements he personally took off a real shell, not any plans… I debated and tossed up the idea of making them all the same (I even started to prep the inside walls of the cyclotron for the changes) but in the end I figured someone who had a real shell in his hand and personally took measurements had the upper hand on accuracy, and left them alone…
The problem with Sean’s measurements, and this is not a negative thing about him. Its just that there are some bigger chances for human error, and measurement problems when directly measuring off of a real pack. Most of his measurements simplify down, and I don’t know if it was just because he was using a ruler divided into 16ths or 32nds.. but they are all over the place.
Not to say that they are wrong (as most of the measurements line up with Stefan’s plans).. but there is more room for human error than compared to using the 3D, overlay method that Stefan used. All the proportions of Stefan’s pack should be accurate. (or as assurate as they could be made at the time).
Having personally owned and built a pack off of one of Sean’s shells… it was great.
And with the mistakes that have been found since then… corrected on Flynn’s shell… these are going to be amazing.
Flynn again the shell looks amazing,if there is some way that I can come up with the money I will order one.

Those would be his public version 1 plans, those were made before he took the measurements off of Ken’s shell… This is his version 2 shell based on those new measurements they are not the same as his plans and version 1 shell… I have no idea on how he took the new measurements or to what degree of accuracy… What I do know is that with digital calipers, the cosmetic plates on this shell vary in size and vary in smaller increments then 1/16"…
And I’m not knocking Stefan’s plans either, but there are discrepancies there are inaccuracies… But, yes overall his pack plans have the correct proportions overall…

Well from this photo that thegreatgallina took you can see that there is a tab on the lower powecell portion of the motherboard, it then returns up before going into the roll down…
Now onto Stefan’s motherboard plans you can see the original Stefan plans on the left, it lacks this step, and a quicky photoshop mod of them to reflect the reference photo, doing this type of mod actually brings Stefan’s motherboard much more inline with my shell… Note this area of the shell is 100% different on Sean’s shells, I built and created this whole section of the shell from scratch, based on my observations or lack there of because the ribbon cable does a damn good job of hiding it on most reference photos… But in the end, this 1/8" or so step if done to one of Stefan’s motherboard (to correctly reflect the above reference shot) it will make the fit much closer to my shell…
Oh cool.
The motherboard must of been made before the injectors were installed.

Yep, it fits the powercell wall not the plate that the injectors are attached to…
